RE050 or RE050A do not seem to be available anymore. I tried searching for these, including calling Bridgestone Singapore.

Personal experience is that the RE050A is great! [thumbsup] Currently on RE002, which is ok.

Anyone knows for a fact if any shops still carry RE050s or RE050A?

There's a marked difference to me between extreme and max performance tyres when I downgrade to s001 from the usual re11 and ad08.

This is the most comprehensive site for tires.

http://www.tirerack.com/

I advice against 'Extreme Performance Summer Tires' class tirs as they usually wear out fast, & have poorer wet traction.

Max performance class is the best optimization between street use & grip IMO.

In any case, if you just driving normally, it is much more important to make sure tires are in good condition, pump regularly & base on manufacturer spec, use them in the right conditions (no semi slick for road, for instance) as well as to drive carefully (like no high speed turn in the rain).

Only even pick summer tires in Singapore, even if all season is cheaper or have better review (if it is sold here, & I do not think we have winter tires).

Hibro. I just got 225/45/18 re002 last week. What is the lifespan like for the average driver?

P.s My falken fk452 only last about 18000 km of light footed driving

Neutral Newbie

RE050A came OEM with my car. After about 1.5 years and 30k km, tires were changed prematurely as one of them burst after running over a metallic object at high speed on AYE.

Changed to RE001, and used those for around 2 years and 40k km. Changed those around last November as could feel the grip going.

Currently on RE002.

I changed to my set of 4 GR90 (205/55/r16) at $180 each in Jun 2010. Just called back the same shop and they told me that the GR90 costs $215 each now. I also went by to my regular workshop and their assessment is that my tires has about 10k to 20k km left in them, which would bring me to about 50k km by then. Seems like the GR90 is indeed a good set of tires, just that it is expensive.

On a seperate note, I was thinking of changing my rim to 17 inch. I was told at AutoBacs that for my civic (FD1, 2008 1.8L civic), it could only take 215/45/R17 or 225/45/R17. Is that correct? How do I verify?

TKs bro. Good to know RE001/2 will probably go a longer way than my old Falken FK452.

There are many specs of 050 depending on the requirements of each car manufacturer who is using as it is an oe tyre.

I don't know which spec is used here but it was to be phased out. Other specs of the tyre maybe still made available for other regions.

That's why sometimes it's quite confusing to see tyres being listed on tire rack but it's not available locally here.

The strange the lastest E-class with 18" rims still have RE050 fitted as standard.

The sidewall is rather soft which is a turn off for me though.

can i ask all expert bro how u guys think of 'Toyo C1S' tyre?

was told it is very quiet but is it durable?

& is the quietness last even after 30K km above?

Thanks for comments [rolleyes]

Not an issue to use bs street tyres to 40k with normal usage, even for those with tread wear of 140

NO tyre fits all requirement.

each of every type of tyre made differently.(even same model) that is why some tyre models of tyre shown over outside our region are not available here.

only official channel supplied is the suitable and approved product by manufacturers.

bs re050a tyre is not phased out in original eqiupment.

My current BS RE001 has better turn-in and wet traction (especially critical for >300Nm RWD) than previous Mich PS2.

I wonder if BS RE002 is better than Mich PS3?

Anybody has experience on the latter two?

for RWD if you want better turn in and out look for stiffer sidewall but 1 got to compromise the ride comfort

alternatively on softer sidewall tyre try inflat to higher pressue to min flex
