Petrol Octane level in Malaysia/JB

I don't understand why there are people who always thinks that their car need the very best all the time even though there are cheaper alternatives around.

Petrol company advertisement are working very well and they are laughing all the way to the bank everyday.

If Malaysia petrol is of low grade, then why are there so many sport cars like Porches, Lotus, Mersarati ( spelling ), Lambogini ( again spelling ) going into Malaysia for fun drives?

Typical SG Island mentality, everything outside the our border is lower quality.. Then their own Ferraris, Lambos etc owned by the Datuks and Sultans running what? Specially imported fuels ah? -_-

So far, i only know if JDM FD2R needs min 97 fuel, but people who pump lower grade accidentally, the stock ECU will detune it down to prevent knocking..

Fifth gear also did a test before, pumping a WRX with 95 and 98 octane fuel. The only difference is, 98 produce more power when put to the Dyno when compared to 95. They also did the same test on normal family car and found out there there's no difference in terms of performance.

J.B. petrol not very good standard, the best don't pump there,if you really need to,bring a few bottle of good octane booster along.

Such Ignoramus! Much of the petrol produced in the 3 Singapore refineries are exported to Malaysia. They use what we use. RON specs are tweaked for the local preference only (98 vs 97). I know because I work in the oil and gas industry. In fact, the environmental legislation in Singapore on sulfur or benzene on fuels produced in Singapore are mostly dictated by the bigger Malaysian market, not the other way round.

my car with small t/c needs 95 petrol but i told my tuner to tune it in such a way that it can take 91 petrol.. lol

yeah.. I'm a cheapskate but after tuning, my car is a lot more responsive & powerful even with RON92 petrol..

dun get it why ppl wanna tune their b & b rides using higher RON. IMO, it's just not cost-effective.

Playboy mag not for sale in 7-11 >> helps u save $$ >> explains lower birth rate

No big msg palour like Thailand posidon >> go for legit massage for better health > creating more social sex harassments.

Gov nv subsidies petrol, instead tax us on it. >> encourage u to earn more, spend more to stimulate GDP > higher inflation

No cheap beer. >> drinking red wine is better for health..reduces risk of heart problems > adding to inflation, spending more than require to have the same effect

No cheap piak piak. >> encourage u to be a morally upright person by being faithful > adding to inflation, spending more than require to have the same effect

Ur car is tune with piggy back or standalone ecu ? If yes, u can't tune with sg 98,n than mix with jb97. I try before. It keep knocking .

If u always go jb, than tune Ur car with jb 97. So that u hv no problem mixing both petrol.

here, your car must have been tuned for ron100, as per the graph attached, you should be getting around ron 97.5 when pumping in malaysia

if your car still knocks due to 0.5 ron then it must require ron 100

i believe you should be able to get ron100 in japan

Many do it for the SHIOK feel that their BnB car is a RACING CAR n BOASTING rights to frens that their car is better than theirs [drivingcar] . Hahaha.

Mostly done by inferior drivers who hv small egos n need a boost to their ego n not their engine power. But they end up paying the price from their pocket. Hahaha. [laugh]

Hrrrr....what does knocking means har?

My taxi always show engine check light on when pumping Jbee Esso(now Petron), Shell, BHP, Caltex.

Only Petronas wont. Spore pumps across the board also wont.

Proven so many times until lost count.

In addition, i notice their density differs a lot.

I can squeeze in 10-11ltrs more after the "click" for the former pumps.

But the latter(Petronas) i have been getting in 13 to as much as 15 ltrs more. hahaha.

means something like pre ignition, the petrol ignites b4 reaching the engine chamber. Hence, causing damage.

What cab u driving?

For the Engine Check Light when pumping petrol, U might need to check the OBD for fault code for more info.

RE the amt u can pump in after the "click". Might b some petrol foam more inside the tank so if u patient n let all the foam settle, u can get more petrol in.

So based on what u said above, Maybe Petronas foams more than the others?

What is more important is your FC. Based on yr mileage, r u getting about the same FC for the former n latter petrol brands?
