Tire patching recommendations

Hi Guys

I have an old tire patch (the push in type) now starting to leak. They say cannot patch again and need someone who can do the proper patch from behind the tire surface. Problem is they can't recommend and I don't know who does this. Anyone knows?

Hi Thanks. I drove around and checked a few shops but they all don't do this. Seems like not so common these days.

I heard patch from inside, should do it properly, if not will leak, Is it true? How they press down the patch ? Use knock or inner tube ?...

If I rem correctly , dismount tyre , push from inside , and pull it from outside.

Mended a few tyres this way. Remove tyre from rim, sandpaper the internal, apply glue and wait for a while, then put on the patch. So far no leak on the tyres. Cost me $10 per patch. Quite a fair price, I think. Did it at Sg Kadut tyre shop - can't remember which one, only know how to drive there.

I did mine at Chung Lee Co @ 316 Tanjong Katong road. The guy has moved on from using a rubber round patch to a newer type that comes with a metal copper wire to seal off the external hole as well for a more complete seal job. Cost a bit more but is more permanent solution than the conventional plug.

FYI for fellow MCfers..

I think those who got quoted $10 is for external patching, as I called up Stamford Kaki Bukit and they quoted $10 bec they only do patch from outside.

The Stamford branch at Lok Yang charge $35 bec they do internal patching; same price as quoted from South East Tyres for internal patching. The extra cost is for the labour to remove the tyre from the rim and then do patch from inside.. more secure if you ask me...

Hope this info helps... ^_^
