3 elements:

 

1. Iron x 1 atom per molecule of iron carbonate,

 

2. Carbon x 1 atom

 

3. Oxygen x 3 atoms

I think 3 elements too. However, one Science teacher in Marsiling secondary insists that there are 5 elements...

He meant 5 atoms? Atoms is different from elements hor.

Sure bo?! Elements there are 3. Atoms then got 5. Together, they form a molecule of iron carbonate.

Well this is a basic question which a Sec 1 Science student should be able to answer.

 

She is a Singaporean and teaches secondary one Science.

Yes, I think 5 atoms not elements, but the question is asking for elements.
