Hi all,

Legal to swap engine on your car if its a) Bolt on, b) meant for that Body code, c) exactly the same CC. d) NA, like stock engine. c) 1.5 times the hp/torque.

Can be done without getting car impounded?

Just have to make sure your engine bay looks 'stock' and the engine# is the same and located @ the same location as the previous engine.

Its illegal. Has to be same rated CC and same model.

But there is allowance for slightly higher CC due to boring up of the cylinders during an overhaul. Eg 86mm bore to 87mm.

It is only deemed illegal if you get caught.

I know quite a number of Civic drivers who change their engines, and they all pass the inspection with flying colors. [lipsrsealed]

Simply put...if it's a different engine from your current one, then it's illegal. Even if sought approval from LTA, most likely not approved.
