Rockaphonics 2nd Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 Sorry, i miscalculated. Stats count at mid june so increase was 100K per year. In year 2025, goal of 6.5M will be reached. That is a shocking 25 years AHEAD of Mah Bow Tan's orginal plan which called for 6.5M at 2050. PAP very efficient and competent in boosting population. Thats assuming constant increase consistently over the years for the next 25 years ceteris peribus. ↡ Advertisement
Tonyhawk 1st Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 add in tourist should be 50% easily i doubt we have 800k tourists at any one time. regardless, its a scary statistic. every other person beside you is a foreigner/PR.
SimonTan 2nd Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 Citizen = 3.26mil Others = 1.39+0.532=1.922mil Ratio of outsiders 1.922/5.18 = 37% Truly amazing!!
13177 Hypersonic September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 (edited) incredible. of the supposed residents in singapore, only 62% are citizens. 62% are citizens? You refer to convert or born n breed or both? Edited September 28, 2011 by 13177
SimonTan 2nd Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 Are we blaming this 532,000 group of people who buy up our properties and not wanting to be citizens? Seems like a small number compared to the 1.32mill who will be renting or needs a room! Wow...there is a HUGE market supporting the rental markets! Just imaging these group go back home due to economic recession.

I think he may have a point: there are 1 million visitor arrivals per month or 12 million arrivals per year. https://app.stb.gov.sg/Data/tou/typea/type1...16/2011_vas.pdf Edited September 28, 2011 by CKP
Tonyhawk 1st Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 I think he is right: there are 1 million visitor arrivals per month or 12 million arrivals per year. https://app.stb.gov.sg/Data/tou/typea/type1...16/2011_vas.pdf i think the average stay of a tourist in singapore is less than 3 days. 1 million arrivals hardly means there are 1million tourists in sg at any one time. but lets not pick bones here. the numbers are quite staggering regardless. SimonTan 2nd Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 If we factor in the 1million tourist. Then at any one time....there will be >6million human on this small island!
Tonyhawk 1st Gear September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 62% are citizens? You refer to convert or born n breed or both? the number is a statistic released by the government. i have no idea what it refers to, but i believe it refers to pink I/C or kids of BC which states their citizenship as Singapore. i dont think it matters if it includes converts. at least they have chosen to call this home. PRs, are a different story.
Kangadrool Supersonic September 28, 2011 Share September 28, 2011 I hope the total weights of 6 millions humans will not pose structural problem on our little piece of rock. Hope the rock don't tilt one side

Yes. You have a point there. My guess there are some of those 1M visitors are also on 2-3 month visit passes too? How many of those 1 million per month are 3-4 day visitors, less than 1 day transit, or those 2-3 month vistors?

CKP 3rd Gear September 28, 2011 Author Share September 28, 2011 62% are citizens? You refer to convert or born n breed or both? SingSTAT do and did release the local born data of residents. Local born formed about 58% of total population in 2010 as best I can remember. ↡ Advertisement
