Tigerwoods Turbocharged September 27, 2011 Share September 27, 2011 I use 3M solar film for my home. feel the diff. As during afternoon when outside is hot, once I open my main door and step into my apartment I can feel the cooler air drop in temperature. another thing, solar film help to protect ur furniture especially ur sofa If you don't open the window maybe it helps but if you open your windows ? The heat baked into the walls are the main cause of the warmth in the room.

Happily1986 5th Gear September 27, 2011 Share September 27, 2011 Then you need to do some research specific to your own house, and do the math. If the investment is not worth the savings, maybe its worth just for the extra comfort, or not worth it altogether. Perhaps its simply the poor airflow in the room, keeping stale air and heat in when the A/C is not turned on. Think you better read up on heat transfer literature before you make such lame statements.
Mkl22 Supersonic September 27, 2011 Share September 27, 2011 i think plasma tv is the culprit agree. will be about 250-300w. so approx 5kw a day. or $1.50 a day. also it depends on if you have many appliances on stand-by. they do consume quite a bit. Inverter aircons have a standby consumption of 50-60w per compressor, due to the crankcase heater. This is on when you switch on the a/c mains. so if you do not use the a/c switch the plug off. but make sure you have approx 4hrs of leaving it on before you switch on the a/c if you have left it off for sometime. (sounds logical right) but films + black out curtain works best for me now.

Dankoo 4th Gear September 27, 2011 Share September 27, 2011 I use a energy meter to monitor the household usage. Its tap to the main live wire coming into the house and monitor via a wireless display. Display can be changed to current consumption, in $ or historical. My base comsumption is ~200W-300W with the Fridge running. I am staying in EA with ~$200 average monthly utility. I bought the device from UK...I think few years back, there was some local brand too.
