At pt of reporting, reporting center never assign you any workshop?

i thought all should follow without any fuss.

alternatively you can ask the other party to provide his workshop.

THAT WORKSHOP will settle everything for you.

The reporting centre say i can proceed with my repair at workshop?

Thing is, which workshop? My insurance approved list of workshops? or any workshops (since i can claim other party's insurance)? Or my authourised dealer?

and if so, wat about the loss of car usage during this period of time?

usually if you are claiming the other party's insurance, you go to his Insurance Co.'s workshop.

you can call to ask him which is his workshop and send your car there.

they do repair n paper works for you.

Everything fails, try asking the Co. in the pic to help you.

anyway he is only EQ iInsurance's authorised workshop.

hope it helps.

By right, you can go to any of your own preferred workshops to get it done. But preferably to your AD or approved workshops as insurers might dispute excessive claims (if the workshop isn't in their approved list).

Loss of car usage can be claimed but usually the dispute comes in here and might take a lengthy time.

You might even need to take the insurer to court if he refuses to pay. My mum's colleague did that a few years back.

Just get the normal repairs done and forget about the others. It's too much of a hassle for the rest.

After reporting, i can now go to any workshop or my aunthorised dealer to do the repair? Subsequently they bill the guy? then case close?

If it's clear cut case and you are claiming against the other party insurer, you can go to any workshop.

Your appointed workshop will not commence repair immediately as they will do the necessary report and "invite" the other party insurance surveyor down first. Once it is clear that 100% claimable from the other party and surveyor is satisfied with the quotation, your appointed workshop will ask you to send car down for repair.

Loss of use is either courtesy car or $40 per day niah. I will choose courtesy car even though I don't depend on my car for a living. $40 per day IMO is too little for the hassle of taking cabs up and down.

You cannot start the repair until the other party or his insurance company agrees with the liability.

They called this direct settlement.

If you can't wait, you can proceed with the repair and pay yourself first. Then, ask the other party to pay you back. If He refused, then you will need to bring him to court... bla bla bla...it will be more complicated.

So, best option for you is actually going back to AD (not your insurance authorized workshop) and ask them to claim 3rd. party insurance. Give them the other party's insurance company name. They will settle the rest.

In a way, the reporting centre is good for not misled you to repair your car there.

You don't have to repair your car at the other party's authorized workshop too.

Authorized workshop is only when we want to claim our own insurance. Claiming 3rd party, you can go to any workshop of your choice. But to prevent dispute, where the insurance claim the other workshop anyhow claim, better option is to go back to your AD. At least you are sure they will use original parts.

On the loss of use... you can choose to have a replacement car or cash. Cash $ will be based on the type of car you drive. Typically from $60 to $100 per day starting from the day you send your car in for repair.

Thanks for all the advices so far. But from wat i know, going back to AD and wait for surveyor and claim 3rd party etc etc is going to take a hella of time.

Will going to outside workshop settle the whole thing faster? Settle whole thing, as in repair my car, the party agree, and sort the paperwork out so that the case will been closed?
