3-car accident on Thu 22 Sep opposite Thomson Plaza

Hi people,

I was about 10 seconds ahead of the above accident.

I was heading for Thomson Plaza at about 9.20 pm last night from the opposite side on lane 1.

A taxi was trying to filter right from lane 2 into my lane at low speed, heading for the U-turn before the Thomson Plaza U-turn.

As it was going so slowly, most of the cars in my lane did not slow down to give way.

10 seconds later, after I had nearly reached my U-turn spot, I heard collisions behind me.

The taxi was nowhere in sight.

But it seemed to leave a trail of destruction in lane 3, which I could only see after it happened.

A red Jazz seemed to swerve and go up the kerb entirely.

2 other cars crashed a short distance behind - a white Civic crashed into the back of another car.

The Jazz driver seemed hurt.

Ambulance arrived later.

One hour later, the TP was still there, and so were the Civic and Jazz.

I hope everybody involved is fine.

I am just curious (debating with my wife) whether the taxi caused the chain accident.

It is just unfortunate that a selfish and inconsiderate move by the taxi to go from lane 3 to lane 1 to the U-turn caused anguish to 3 other drivers.

And got off scott-free.

You have mentioned in your post that you are in front of the accident .... and you are making accusation about the Taxi causing the accident. Please do not make statement unless you have witness the accident. If you are driving behind the taxi, Hondas etc and saw the whole accident .... I have nothing to say and you can curse and swear at the taxi driver.

As much as I dislike taxis, please be fair to all parties here.

Just my two cents....

I am not saying the taxi driver directly caused it - but certainly indirectly. He cannot be faulted, even with video evidence.

In the space of 10 seconds, we can only point to the taxi being the only vehicle not travelling in a smooth pattern in moderate traffic at a common accident area.

It escaped because the cars behind did not take necessary precautions to prevent the accident.

You could say that the drivers in the accidents did not drive properly.

But many accidents are initially caused by such inconsiderate drivers, and many are taxi drivers who try to find the shortest path to save time/money.

On the way home from the same trip, there was yet another taxi trying to cut 3 lanes from the kerb to the junction to U-turn in a space of less than 50 metres.

I gave way to him as the traffic was light.

But what will happen if the traffic is heavy?

Not everyone will give way, and if he insists on making his bold move, accidents may happen.

Actually, I wasn't sure. My wife thinks it was the taxi

Neither of us saw the actual crash, but I heard it and saw part of the incident in the rear view mirror.

After U-turning, I saw the aftermath.

We were debating how the Red Jazz went up the kerb, 30-40 metres in front of the other 2 cars.

ok.. so is your wife think is taxi but you think is not... lol

its easy how this happen......

car travelling fast..... swerve to avoid, up kerb... not all 4 tyres not touching ground...so not much brake traction... so skid by under carriage....

again.. this is only 1 likely scenario.......

Hi people,

I search online and I got to come this website. Anyway I'm the passenger of the seriously damanged Toyota, not the driver.

The person that post has got a lot of wrong information. It is not a Civic and Jazz.

Is Toyota (Yaris), Kia (White), Madza (Black).

We, (Toyota) were hit by the Kia (White) behind that's how we swerve up to the kerb, and the Kia (White) scratch until the Madza (Black).

Previously, the Madza (Black) had already make a report saying his didn't witness the whole accident only till the Kia (White) bang onto our car. The Kia (White) rang up Madza (Black), and so the Madza (Black) changes his statement.

How I know? The insurance company called, and I asked for the Madza (Black) contact number. I rang up the Madza (Black), asked him question and he answered me. Oh well, I got recorded it down. (Smart Move)

Everything will not be disclosed any further till Monday, 3rd Oct 2011. That's what I hear from my insurance person.

I can affirm that every one should be fine cox I had the most serious impact.

Was send to hospital and found out that my heart had a problem, nerve was been affected. (Shocked) and say I might die anytime.

Whatever it is, I just hope what right should be done and compensate.

Warmest regards

The poor girl. [bigcry]
