CNA:CNB Reports Error In Drug Arrests..

I find it too ridiculous to believe. I believe its a simple case of entering into the computer the number of cases of arrest made every year, so how can the number of arrest in 2008 go from 1925 to to 2537? Assuming they use a spreadsheet, how can anyone key in 1925 instead of 2537? Or if they use a software to count the number of case files on record, how can such a huge error be made? Imagine if a public listed company publish their reports stating for one financial year they made 1 million, everyone go buy their shares, the next yr they say oh so sorry we made a mistake, we actually lost 500k instead, what would happen to the share price? Heads will definitely roll in that case. In this case, whose head in CNB rolled?

Also the Hri kumar is doing very well to follow his masters who said s'poreans were complacent when mas salamat escaped, in an attempt to throw smokebomb and turn people's attention away from the real issue. So now the error is 'unfortunate' but no mention of who took responsibility, how such errors can be prevented in future blah blah blah, but instead issue statements like 's'pore should focus on the 'LARGER PROBLEM' of drug abusers increasing in number.

The thing is, their pattern is already so well known, when problem arise, nobody comes out to take responsibility, no assurance to the public of how such errors can be prevented, instead blame everything else under the sun or just say 'no amt of engineering can prevent.....', why is that time and time again they can get away with such pattern? Is this an example of the world's best (best paid) government?

Probably the person doing the stats is too high to notice the error. Need a sober one to correct it. :D

As usual no accountabilty.

In future, all our appeal letters to HDB, LTA, URA, etc should always end with the following:

"It's an honest mistake, let's move on."

and deserve to be let-off yes?

If the powers that be can get away with co*k-ups when they fumbled, we citizens can also expect the same treatment right?

Exactly. Good point. We citizens are punished for the slightest mistakes and we are expected to be on our our best behaviour <_<

But you didn't say you take full responsibility (WKS version) to the media.

So next time all my letters will have this -

"It was an isolated incident. An honest mistake. I assume full responsibilty. Let's move on. Please waive the fines. Thank you." [laugh][laugh]

You must also add that it was "unfortunate", that you "stand corrected".

Anyone has link to the reports on the press release for the 2008-2010 CNB statistics? I am really interested to read what 'explanations' they gave then for the (now proven wrong) downward trend.

To add,

You have to "repent" if you reject us...
