....b/w a Jr Lt and CSM?

I know in the formal structure, a jr Lt is higher in rank even to the most senior NCO (senior warrant), but in actual fact, can a CSM punish a jr Lt like take extra duty or knock it down?

Yes, if the NCO holds appointment as OC, as with SWO with OC appointment, and the 1LT is just a PC.

If I remember correctly...

Depending on appointment and which situation. If in the parade square, the NCO who is conducting drill can fug them upside down if they don't do it properly.

However, in the combat unit, CSM is in charge of sect comm and platoon sergent where as OC in charge of PCs for commanders level. It is quite unlikely CSM will cross the line to discilipine PC but they can only recommend punishments to OC but not implement.

depends on the appt and location.

in the parade square, WO is King !!

outside parade square, 2lt can still scold encik.

no matter what, even SWO still got to address 2lt as "SIR".

during my time in SAFINCOS - OC is Major, 2IC is SWO, PC are all WOs and CSM is SSG.

instructors are all SGG and SGT and CFC.

During my active days many years ago, the CSM f@ck a 2Lt in front of the whole company when he threw his helmet on the ground in a field exercise.

KNN his platoon lost to my platoon [bounce2] in a competition to build a bridge across a river and took it out on his men.

The CSM not only asked the men to recover from pumping position, he demanded him to pick up and put on his helmet as well... [thumbsup]

Appointment also counts.

in school, on course is it ??

when officers go to SOC for training, they still have to behave like dogs in front of the nco instructors - so what if the instructors call the trainees "SIR", eg, "SIR, knock it down 50, Sir !!"

In a command structure, LT is higher than CSM or even RSM. they still have to address him as "sir" and salute him.

But when it comes to parade, then thats when the CSM or RSM in charge is the BIGGEST MF. He can F any guy in the parade.

I ever personally saw RSM told a LT to take off his "chocolate bars", and run 10 rounds in the parade square, because the LT cannot get his timing right in the marching. And this was being done in front of the men.

During my BMT and was having full dress rehearsal for POP, RSM (Tiger Ong - in 1977) f... everyone in the Parade Square and all have to do 20 push-up including the CO (Major Kwan later become the CO of MP unit in 1978) for happen to be at the parade square watching .....:blink:

For every recuits, we feel very song and respect that RSM ..... [thumbsup]

Its happen that we are matching out of tune and the RSM was shouting 'everyone in the parade square - down 20'. As usual, all recuits went down and the Officers were standing. The next command heard was "I says everyone in parade square down 20". Happen CO Major Kwan was also watcing the parade at the side but inside the parade square boundary also went down. All Officers LL also went down and do a 20....... [smash]

and you might want to know that Tiger Hong was given a field commission in ROC and promoted to an officer subsequently, lost his parade square powers... i guess that what happen when u are given too much power

I think depends on what suitation and the appointment of the 2LT and the warrant. In parade square and during drills, the warrant (CSM or RSM) is the biggest and he can F anyone on the parade square.

But if based on level of ranks, a commission officer is always higher than a warrant officer, even the commission officer is the lowest level as 2LT, and the warrant officer is the highest level as senior warrant, the 2LT by right still higher rank.

That's what happened when the legendary WOs Tiger Hong and Shamsuddin punished the officers during drill at the parade square.

now its the in-thing ... to promote WOs to the rank of majors so they become commissioned officers ... but at the same time lose a tiny bit of power.
