Almost all the folks in the forums or people on the street agree the salaries of ministers are rediculous. And if you wana look at the closest equivalent of the official consensus, just see the Presidential elections results. Its as close to a referendum as you will get here in singapore. Tan Jay See pegged annual remuneration of ministers to $500k and even with his relatively late entry into the elections he garnered close to 30% of the votes. By comparison PAP favourate and long established candidate with PAP media support Tony Tan only managed slightly over 33%? That tells u over 66% of voters are at a dischord. The PAP will fall, this ministers salary embarassment will be one of its undoing....its just a question whether the fall comes at the next elections or the one after.....its just a matter of time. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear September 17, 2011 Share September 17, 2011 i just find it ridiculous that over the years the pap can just increase their salaries at their own whim and fancy, they didn;t have to consult anybody and just do as they like, now when people are unhappy they suddenly need a committee to review their salaries and have to follow the recommendations of the committee? Come on lar! Can ownself review upwards but cannot onwself review downwards? Moreover, dun need some committee to tell them how much to review downwards by, any people in the street can just give them suggestions like say average of the salaries of those countries whose population and gdp is about thesame as us, like say Norway, Denmark and so on, or maybe just simply review downards by a reasonable percentage like 50%, 60%, 70% etc, or just everybody below one million blah blah blah, there are so many ways to review their salaries downwards, why must ask some committee that dun seem to be able to do their job after 4 months? Heck, I'm sure the wise men of the mcf can give them viable suggestions as to how they can cut their salaries, if they just care to look here! More hopeful when they split off.
