Mr Ng, 40, the husband of PAP MP Tin Pei Ling, will replace Mrs Ow Foong Pheng, who will be appointed Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry).

 

Mrs Ow is the ministry's Second Permanent Secretary doing the job of Permanent Secretary when Mr Ravi Menon moved to the Monetary Authority of Singapore in April 2011 to replace managing director Heng Swee Keat, who was entering politics.

 

Mr Heng is now Education Minister.

 

 

The new appointments were announced on Friday by the Public Service Division in the Prime Minister's Office.

 

It also said that from Oct 2, Mr Teo Ming Kian, Permanent Secretary (National Research and Development) and Advisor (Special Projects) in the Ministry of Finance will relinquish both his appointments at the end of his re-employment.

 

Ms Yong Ying-I, Permanent Secretary (Health), will be concurrently Permanent Secretary (National Research and Development).

We need capable people to advice on the trade and industry! Perhaps bring in cheaper Kate Spade goods?

Or more cheaper chicken industry so that the chatter box chicken will not be so expensive?

still dunno wat all these secretaries do but i know they earn tonnes of $$.

every ministry got so many secretaries.

 

Perm Sec is highly paid. A junior Perm Sec at SR5 is equivalent to Senior Minister of State. So Mr Ng How Yue is of higher rank than Minister of State, such as Tan Chuan Jin, Lawrence Wong etc....

It took centuries of oppression before monarchies were overthrown. Dictators were overthrown by foreign armies. True Democracies take decades to change parties because the incumbent government has the upper hand in persuasion - that's how they got there in the first place.

 

Many people who have left this sunny island were not running from the elected government.

 

They were running from the electorate.

 

Give it in the region of 10 or so elections.
