18 Chinese nationals jailed over fake degrees

For their involvement in a fake degree scam, at least 18 foreign workers from China were sentenced earlier this week to jail in Singapore for four weeks each.

The workers had been found by a local court to have provided forged certificates to obtain work passes to work for T Y Enterprise and Sun Blues Cleaning Maintenance.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) said that while another 10 workers from China will be charged with similar offences on Thursday, another nine are being repatriated after being served with warning letters

it is so common for employers to take back money after the S pass FT had gotten his/her pay. But i guess there is nothing the authorities can do about this.

Dont you think cheating is a serious offend and yet they can do nothing about it ? [laugh]

Farmers also can pass off as deg holders? Good luck to Badder and the rest of the businessmen who worship these 'talents'. <_<

i think these fake talents do not come in to do a degree job, they just use the fake degree to get s-pass, some of them might be working as cleaner/stall assistant etc.

I do know of another case where the company asked the employee to pay for the monthly work permit levy or she would not get the job.

employers and agents should be taken to task as well...

employers dont know fake from real.

should go for the agent.

after all, the agent gives all the details
