Sorry to lombang this thread, but i think it's kinda related

say i've got a uncommon car, so nobody has submitted exhaust to LTA for approval before.

but after market exhaust is available for the car.

If i self import the exhaust, and install in the car, can go to LTA to seek their approval?

anyone know what is the process to get exhaust approved?

bro, you wont wan to go thru the trouble doing all the document, paper work.. In order to get an exhaust approve for that particular vehicle made, you need alot of time, paper work and go thru the process of testing with LTA..

And lastly, it very costly

for my case:

i bought a 2nd hand exos with cert(LTA appprove)

1)go to the workshop install and go the dealer ask them transfer ownership for the exos (around $80)

2)bring the cert and the letter from the dealer to any inspection centre inspect(around$70+)

3)pass and wait 1-2 week LTA will send u a letter prove tat ur exos is legal .

hope it help

Thank bro for the info :)

Here is another question :)

Assuming that he go for the inspection n being asked for the cert which my fre can't produce. Will they inform LTA n issue him a fine?

Izzit possible to consult them by calling their hotline before going down n ask them for the workshop name to get the letter. Of coz fuji exhaust is legal for GD1 but my fre did not change his detail to be his car plate number.

Reason being is to get the document to prove to the LTA officer when being stop on the road .

Please kindly advise :)

I dun think Fuji Exhaust is official approve exhaust

Vehicle owners who wish to install an after-market exhaust system that is not in the list of approved brands, may apply for an approval with the LTA Vehicle Engineering Department. The owner would have to submit the following documents together with the application:- Please see URL

sry ah, dig up old thread.

i'm planning to get a 2nd hand exhaust from another owner however he misplaced his cert. is it a necessary to go to his agent to replace the cert and get letter to transfer ownership?

cuz from my understanding, the owner told me the agent told him $100 to replace his CERT and $80 to transfer ownership.
