Diaoweifeng Clutched January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 Dear mdfaz, Does the price 116K for Orlando include 3 year free Servicing? Not sure and I didn't ask why. SE said they are having some promotion... must say that price-wise, it's quite attractive. ↡ Advertisement
Mdfaz 2nd Gear January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) I was there around 2 or 3pm. I parked my airwave next to a black one, was that yours? Mine's the silver one. Agree on the Mobilio, quite disappointed of the package - air con control still the manual knob type when almost any make/model these days are all digital at the very least. Very stripped down version that KM is bringing in. Yeah the package offered for the Orlando was around there, but the SE didn't mention of the $119k package. He said servicing's all gotta pay when I asked if the first 3 was free. Anyway I didn't really bargain hard cos I am still looking around, as my current COE expires only in 2017. But a little bored driving it around due to a lack of power.. I am also looking at the cruze estate ($108k, very good price too) as I love the bootspace and legroom that wagons generally offer (sadly there are not many options to wagon-type cars locally), especially since I got to store away my kid's pram or for that occasional drive up north with luggages and all. I'm still in a dilemma between a 5 and 7 seater. My wife prefer to stick to 5 but I think 7 will be a better option in case of family expansion in future, and the occassional time when parents/in-laws are around. Congrats on committing. 6 bids non-guaranteed but I believe you should get it by the 4th bid or perhaps earlier, fingers crossed. On my shortlist is the Vezel too, but haven't gone down to have a look at it yet. You were there around 1pm? Think I saw your airwave. I'm an airwave driver too. Went to see the Mobilio last week but wasn't impressed with it. Mobillio at 122K is the basic spec version. Fabric seat, and some other extras were not included. The 1.5l engine was also a turn-off as it means that the pick up will be compromised. Committed myself to the Orlando yesterday. Got it at 116K, non guaranteed. Negotiated for additional 1 year free servicing(10k, 20k) on top of the other things included in the pricelist. Wanted to get the Vezel initially, but decided to go for a 7-seater instead as I need to fetch my parents around on top of my own family. Was impressed with the good pick-up and the equipment provided at this price. Was initially worried if the price will drop further since the number of COEs will be increasing. But think the price has factored in the anticipated drop in COE prices as it was going for 129K last Oct(I went to enquire last year) and the COE was around the same price then. Guess that there's no best time to buy. 5 years unlimited warranty. 1 year Free servicing, 1 year road tax and a hamper is included if you get the 119k package. 116K if you opt out of the package. I went for the 116K package and managed to negotiate for free 1 year servicing as well. Agree that there is a chance that COE will drop below 50K soon. But do note that interest rate is also likely to go up from the current 2.28% too. Nope, no free servicing as I mentioned in my post above, unless you bargain or get the $119k package. Still I feel $116k is very good considering the features of the car, compared to to a similar 7 seater compact MPV. Dear mdfaz,Does the price 116K for Orlando include 3 year free Servicing? I have to change car soon as my airwave's COE is expiring this year. Need a 7 seater as my parents are getting old and I would like to bring them out more often for meals with my family. I feel that you should keep your airwave as long as possible since now the trade in price for resale cars are lousy.
Mdfaz 2nd Gear January 26, 2015 Share January 26, 2015 (edited) Keeping the current airwave as long as I can is a viable option, considering that COE prices may possibly reduce this year and perhaps next. Which is why I am doing some homework at the moment just to make sure that I can narrow down to a few models, in case the time's 'right'. Anyway, one sticking point for the orlando is that it comes with only 2 airbags. Think they should improve on this, considering most similar compact MPV models come with 6 or 7 airbags now. Demand will be stronger if they can price it competitively with better safety features. Yup. I'm the black airwaver. Think I just finished my test drive when you reached. Palden Clutched January 27, 2015 Share January 27, 2015 I went down to KM and Alpine to have a look at both cars. Orlando looks much more rugged and solid, test drove it and felt the power of the turbocharged engine. Mobilio, I wasn't too impressed with the interior as I visually sensed that my airwave has got larger legroom; there's only one Mobilio here so no test drive until April/May, so says the SE who served me. Price wise, Orlando is at $116k (listed price is $140k) vs Mobilio at $122k... OMV, i believe both are about $18k. Mobilio is basic car. Less electronics also means less problems. However safety could be an issue as jap cars are known to be made of "paper" Only drawback on Orlando is the FC. Wished they had the foresight of bringing in the turbodiesel model

However safety could be an issue as jap cars are known to be made of "paper" Only drawback on Orlando is the FC. Wished they had the foresight of bringing in the turbodiesel model I was looking at the Volkswagen Touran TDI as well as the Volvo D40 D2 which both use Euro5 diesel. No doubt that the FC is better. The trade-off is that the roadtax is much higher compared to Orlando. At the same time, I'm troubled by the reports that some of the owners experienced problems with their diesel cars despite pumping only Euro5 diesel. Can check out their reports on the volvo d40 thread. And of course, the touran had some news in the media where an owner had to spend 28k on repairs for his new Touran after some water got in. Went to the Mobillio launch at Kah motor. Was quite turned off by the specs of Mobillio, esp that it comes with only a 1.5l engine. I wonder if it would have enough horsepower to go up steep slopes while carrying 7 people.

If the testdrive can only happen in Apr/May, it will be too late for me as I will need a car latest in Apr.

Biglittlebean 3rd Gear February 7, 2015 Share February 7, 2015 So how many days from the time you put deposit to get the keys? And you traded in yr airwave? Just put down my 40% deposit today. Expecting to collect the key this coming week but I have told my SE that I can only collect next Saturday(14th) as I'm having ICT now. Pretty fast with not much hassle. Not trading in my airwave as my father-in-law wants to take over. They are only willing to take in my car at paper value as the COE is expiring this oct. Interestingly, two friends smsed me that they would like to but over my airwave after they know that I have signed for a new car.
Biglittlebean 3rd Gear February 7, 2015 Share February 7, 2015 116K wow? That's quite attractive. Maybe I drop by later. Go for a test drive! For me, what won me over was that it's pretty much a driver's car. The acceleration is definitely a notch above Prius C, City and mazda 3 which I test drove before. another car I like is the Vezel, but it costs more and have less seats. Atrecord Supersonic February 7, 2015 Share February 7, 2015 so 3 rd row is for midgets? Err... Dun like that say lah, but tall people will definitely struggle with the 3rd row. Maybe just a shade better than the contis where it's almost like sitting on the floorboard... Think it's 2 step down from the wish that I'm driving... ↡ Advertisement
