Chevrolet Orlando New MPV

What is the speed of the vehicle and how long after your foot is off the pedal when you feel the jerk?

The jerk you experience could be the transmission changing ( to a lower) gear.

If you feel something is out of place, send the car to the workshop for a check.

As this is by far the most active thread on Chevy, I would appreciate help from those who owned and drive turbo vehicle regardless of the model.

Do you experience a jerk when you apply engine brake (i.e. let go of accelerator and cruise till the speed drops)?

Anyone knows what is the auto trans supplier for the orlando turbo 6 speed box? Do you all have the gear ratio value for the gears? Seems having difficulty getting these info.

The Orlando 6-speed uses General Motors Hydra-Matic 6T40 auto trans as stated in this brochure; http://www.gm.ca/inm/gmcanada/english/about/RetireeInfo/Pamphlets13/2013_Chevrolet_Orlando.pdf

You can find the gear ratios for the GM 6T40 here in wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_6T40_transmission

Was your car on a gradient/slope?

"Adaptive Shift Controls

Adaptive shift controls include automatic grade braking, which commands the transmission to remain in a lower gear if the vehicle is decelerating or coasting on a downgrade. This takes advantage of engine braking to prevent unwanted acceleration. This reduces the need for the driver to brake during a hill descent. The control module receives input that monitors brake pedal usage, vehicle acceleration rate, throttle position, and even whether a trailer is connected to the vehicle."

Watwheels & Razer_Blaze, thanks for trying to help.

The jerk happens at certain km/h. And no, my car wasn't on a gradient when I felt it.

You try to take note. Like does it occur during city driving, start/stop traffic? Or only on highway during congestion, slow crawling speeds?

If I'm not wrong it's the gearbox software or programming. Not all are like Japanese cars, silky smooth.

I get shift shocks when I accelerate @ (when engine braked to 50km/h ~Gear3 and then when I accelerate again, it shiftshocks.

If i'm not wrong, its between 3rd & 4th gear. but then only happened to me 3 times. Perfect scenario to describe this is when trying to apply more power to overtake in a traffic jam. (I've since adapted... and learnt to apply power 2seconds earlier and smoothly; SS doesn't happen anymore)

I think an efficient way to drive this 1.4T is to power-up early, and give the turbocharger some spool-time, mid-range performance is generally okay.

My oldman's beemer (5Series) had your problem; or at least it sounds similar... i.e. when gliding in MSCP, gear 1-2 the car surges / jerk violently. At first I thought it was just turbo timing, but at some point it got really intrusive; so we checked into the workshop. Turn out to be ECU software issue... programming yadda yadda yadda....
+++++

So you never know, could be ECU software issue too?? Will second Bro Watwheels' advise to get it checked; its under warranty, so it should be foc. If not foc, we go throw stones at Alpine!!!

Just came back from Thailand : - Chevy seems really popular there... esp the Colorado and Captiva... (every corner you go, there will be a Captiva) ... and Sonic.

Serbian Police Orlando:

and the well-equipped Dubai Police with the Camaro !!

Since Thailand has many Chevolet's, It would be easy to get spare parts and accessories. Hopefully for Orlando too. I use to go Hatyai once a year.

Too prominent and hot cars are in the eyes of car thieves like honda civic. They just drive away like their own car in the video. Scary. Chevy is a better bet.

I got bored and decided to repaint my plain-looking Orlando and mod it wildly to see what it looks like.

<zzzz> Original paintwork of my boring Orlando *yawn*:

2143805995723a6eade05fe38e9ae729fab6ca8d

Deciding on new paint works. How about an eco-looking green colour to blend in with the trees?

21438069ea34555a9de29ca166d125e8c2449df7

Or a National Day paint scheme in support of SG50?

214380684cb67ab316d063ffdac859b629eeb316

Or black rims with a purple-bluish body and black bonnet?

21438067c8e81646dfb0c51e5397be66ecff87fb

How about a patchwork of crazy colours like this below with lowered springs? It makes people think I had replaced damaged parts taken from different scrapped cars!!

214380667f4491916f499e0423b806a498d8b9d8

214380657b4ad97d16ebdb5002c910080d2353a9

Or simply go for a hot-hatch theme with a turbo air scoop, new side mirrors, rear spoiler and sporty rims, and of course the lowered springs!! Notice the Tiger motifs?

214380641b933b5100e57bd42f28724ba4f8535e

or a hot pink Orlando with BBS rims that Taylor Swift would rave about?

Today's straits times ad says orlando at $117k with $3k petrol voucher. Does it mean it is effectively 114k? And if i go down, can bargain to be slightly lower?

Yes, I called them and it is after all discounted price $114K and excluding servicing. 3 years Service package will be $2K++.

I am still comparing between Orlando and Japanese PI cars like Honda Freed, Honda Fit Shuttle in the same price range. Design and function wise Orlando is much better and look more like a SUV rather than MPV. I heard about PI Cars night mare and bad servicing or no servicing.

Anyone has experience to share good PI dealer or Alpine good SE to look for? Budget is around $110K.

My current COE will expire on Jan 2016 and intend to grab new one by next month (waiting time may be 3 months).

It means u still pay $117k but would get $3k worth of petrol voucher maybe a few weeks later.

Sure you bargain for additional discount. Depending on how desperate the SE is to close the deal, you might get it.

tbh...

I see myself switching to other brands after a few short years... unless they bring in a 2.0 diesel turbo Captiva or GMC Yukon or something...

The reference article is http://www.goodcarbadcar.net/2015/03/chevrolet-orlando-discontinued-in-canada.html

It means Chevrolet Orlando is discontinued in Canada. I asked the SE in Alphine and she has not heard about it yet. If you Google further, you can find that M5 is also discontinued in Canada. The reason is that Chrysler Grand Voyager cost only $1K more.
