Chevrolet Orlando New MPV

There are a couple of stockists around Veerasamy Road carrying Chevrolet spare parts so it should not be too difficult getting the spare parts.  I have been to one of them and found that they are linked to the AD because they can find your Chevrolet model in their computers via your license plate number to find the correct spare part number you need.

Even Alpine Motors themselves sell spares although they could be more expensive.

Yes, Alpine Motors has a Parts Center at level 1. It is possible to buy the spares from them.

I bought the brake light switch from AM and replaced it myself. I'm driving a Aveo5. Expensive or not I'm not sure. I search for the same part number on Ebay and Amazon, comparing with AM price the price works out to be about the same.

Hi guys,

Would like to ask if it is difficult to get Orlando spare parts in sg? Really liked this car when I went to view and test drive, but I am worried that the spare parts will be scarce and difficult to find in a few years down the road, as this car is not really common. If it is, guess I have no choice to consider Wish / Carens instead.

Thank you in advance for your comments / insights:)

Noob Car Buyer.

There should be no issues with spares. Have driven other Chevrolet models previously in the family (total approx 7 years) and there was never an issue with availability of  spare parts.

Is anybody on servicing packages for Orlando?

Cheaper to "a la carte" service or buy annual packages?

Was thinking since we are tied for 5 years, might as well get a good deal by prepaying for 1-2 years?

Other stuff that is possible to get online:

- LED headlamp / taillights (same as facelift, compatibility unknown)

Here's a simulation of how the new faclift LED headlights look like if you upgrade them by yourself.  Looks like not much difference unless it is for the DRL inbuilt in the new lamps:

The Orlando has a solid rear crash protection, with the passenger compartment still intact from a crash to the back. Good safety for the last row passengers:

Side impact and roll-over protection are also quite impressive:

But drive safely always.  This totalled Orlando probably rolled over at high speed so don't push your luck :

Essentially we still don't know if it will fit right? it costs about 1k, a significant risk.

Yes. Fitting is a big big question mark.

Go to accessories shop to modify is safer and cheaper i reckon.

Yes. The agent do carry parts but please do homework before heading down.

Many a times they sell parts alot more expensive than what the stockists sell for.

Just did servicing. AD was prompt to solve both my problems in just half a day. (Very prompt) :a-happy:

Reverse camera is much clearer now... helps me park faster.

GPS is spot on now... doesnt take donkey ages to connect to a satelite.

The drive is much smoother after the servicing... (Two more free slots to go) [thumbsup]

What more, received a box of pineapple tarts and beautiful tissue box...  :chilling:

My satisfaction Jar has been refilled.... [nod]
+++++

Thumbs up.

Well I drive a new Malibu...took delivery just last month.

Parts are available rather easily don't worry.

And being an American car, the whole internet, youtube, amazon, GM USA database will be your help and guide. Parts can be ordered from Amazon at an even lower price too.

Crumple zone?   Even the tough-looking Orlando has a soft crumple zone in front by design:

Anyway, I did not realize some of my attached photos did not show up in my post.

Hi Guys,

Let me shared my experience based on over 2 months of driving with using OBD 2. I would say jerking improved and smoother. But I am not seeing much FC improvement.

I am using SPC 95 always. SE suggest to use Esso 98 or Shell V-Power to improve jerking. So I tried Esso 98 and definitely less Jerking and FC improved too. After adding OBD 2 chip, jerking is not a problem any more on all type of fuel.

Next, I increase tyre pressure from 230 to 240 and then 250. Now I can see much improvement on both FC and slow pick up after red light. Then I switch back to SPC 95 and can feel slower pick up.

Based on the trial result, I can conclude that 1.4T engine need higher grade fuel to work better, OBD 2 chip can take care of Jerking issue but not so much on FC. Again this is my opinion only. Feel free to add in your experience.

Surprise. Thought turbo cars need lower octane fuel so that they can compress during turbo charging time. Maybe I mistaken.

Orlando seems a good MPV. Just that AD is selling quite costly as compare to Carens where the vehicle OMV is much higher. That is why I hesitate until now on Orlando.

Hope to hear more about it in this forum.

With your new turbocharged car, the big question is to put in premium or to not put in premium fuel?

Best Answer I found on the Web:

Octane rating is a value of a fuel mixtures ability to avoid "Engine Knock". This particular knock is caused by "pre-detonation" that results in valve rattle in normally aspirated cars. When a engine is turbo-charged the nature of the system increases the in let air temperature in the intake manifold to increase. This increase also can result in "pre-detonation" and is often destructive to the engine. This means that the fuel used needs to resist this liability, and the higher the octane, the more resistant it is to pre-detonation.
