Chevrolet Orlando New MPV

Kuanhui, you also collected your ride today like me? Oh I could have bumped into you just now!

BTW I'm very pleased with the Orlando on a lot of things - the heavy weight, sturdiness and stability, the handling, steering is good too (didn't feel the "over-steer" bit); interior lighting is nice too!

When my mum saw it, her complaint is "too big" and yet the boot space is "too small". But I proved her wrong after placing successfully all her bags of NTUC grocery in the boot WITHOUT having to lower any of the rear seats!

I also like the multitasking feature of listening to music while performing navigation. And the best part is the GPS software/map is the one I had been using (Morbella) - so it is double happiness for me because not only am I familiar with its operations, this is by far the GPS system I've come across!

I've one question - can the LED number display in blue (depicting our mileage and odometer) be changed to indicate our speed instead?

However, after having driven a 2.0L inline-6 Epica for close to 7 years, I find that some aspects in the driving of the "supposedly less premium/luxurious" Orlando are as follows:

1. No left-tilting mirror while reversing. But I guess this is "compensated" by the reverse camera.

2. No electric driver seat. Every adjustment has to be manual.

3. The fan speed for the air-con: Epica is almost continuous (i.e. 1 to 20), but Orlando is more discrete at only 8 speeds.

Last but not least, I find that the air-con is not as powerful as other brand's (same thing for my former Epica and Optra). Do you guys feel the same?

Bro, can see that you are a die-hard fan of Chevrolet.. It's true that the aircon for chevrolet takes longer time for cool the car as it's more for US climate..

For the side mirrors, u can install those small round blind spot mirror to aid you in your parking..

Thanks for all the info!

My other question is this: After connecting the bluetooth to my mobile phone, how can I answer incoming phone calls? There doesn't seem to have any "telephone" icon on the steering wheel.

For me I disagree. Used to drive a black Honda Airwave which is the same colour as my Orlando. Find that the cooling down of the interior is much faster.

Before I bought my car, my SE told me that the Orlando's air con compressor is actually locally fitted by Sanden, and is a more powerful type designed for the hot tropical regions like Singapore.

GM allowed some degree of customisations by the local AD, including replacing the built-in head-unit with a NavTrak that can support LTA maps.

Hi! I have just collected my Orlando last Friday! 2 things that I found missing in this current batch.

1) Switch to disable front passenger airbag

2) Power socket at the third row seats

I remember these two features were present in the test drive car previously! Maybe those who bought the Orlando previously would like to share if these two features are available in your car?

Thanks!

Same for me. Only light, horn will work when you press the lock button again after locking your car.

Hi guys,

I set my locking to "light and horn". but the horn didn't make any sound.

What should I do? Please advise.

My one does not have front passenger seat belt disable.

But there is a cigarette power outlet on the left side of the boot.

The phone button is missing. It is stupid to miss the phone button. I have to answer the call on the phone, which is not safe.

Does it mean that i must press "Lock" 2 times?

To answer a call, just press the green answer button shown on the LED screen.  You do not have to take your phone out of your pocket.

As for front passenger seat belt disable, I read an online manual which stated that there is a keyhole at the hidden side of the dashboard to disable the front passenger airbag with your car keys.

Yes, press lock button twice will activate the horn.

But horn is not working for unlock.

I found that the horn sound is so short and not easy to hear if the car is far away. I am thinking of adding extra alarm. My old car alarm system alert me with sound if engine stop for few mins and no door locked. Unlocked Sound is loud enough to hear if I am in another level of multi storey car park.

I am not sure it will auto lock after few mins of engine stop or how to set?

By the way, I changed color from Red to Silver and received my Silver Orlando on Sat afternoon. Family really enjoyed as I drove from West to Airport via AYE on Sunday to send my son for oversea trip. Pick up slow intitially but feel steady and safe. Even my wife fall a sleep during the trip. ;-)

Another issue is Back Mirror which is too small for me to see clearly. This one can fix it by installing clip on bigger mirror.

But issue unable to fix is that Fuel Cover that can't close back if the door locked. You need to tell Uncle not to close back if you let them pump next time and you need to lock the door to pay $$ inside. If not, they will break the fuel door locking system by closing it after pumping petrol for you.

Still exploring Entertainment system how to use set for personalized setting.

Maverick, thanks for your pointers in the Bluetooth phone setup. Mine is a Sony Xperia L Android (Version 4.2.2) phone. But despite having turned on my bluetooth function on my mobile phone and pressing the bluetooth phones page on Orlando's screen, it keeps saying "Waiting for Bluetooth pairing" forever.

Does it mean my phone is not compatible with it? Or have I missed a step?

Hi Acosean,

After you turn on your phone's Bluetooth, your phone will search for available bluetooth devices and you will have to connect to a device named "Bluetooth". It will prompt for passcode which should be "1234" or "123456".

The next time you connect, no need to enter passcode anymore.

Thanks. Guess my Sony Xperia L isn't compatible because despite trying the recommended way, it still didn't work. But my colleague's Samsung S6 could work perfectly with my Orlando's Bluetooth.

BTW I've manually used scissors to cut out and and have pasted my white masking tape onto my Orlando's lamps to form the "eagle eye" effect as follows. What do you guys think? Should I remove it or get an artist friend to cut out the shape more smoothly?

Looks pretty ok to me. My suggestion is that the line of the tape follows the line of the bonnet side to achieve a more flowing look.

Anyway, I drove into Bukit Indah last week. Went in at slightly below 3/4 tank and pumped petrol at the gelang patah station before the Tuas checkpoint. Was quite surprised to pump about 31litres.

One other way to manual connect the bluetooth is to go to the bluetooth MENU, and click in the following order...

"Bluetooth">"Device List">"[select your device name]">"Connect"

If you don't see your device in  the DEVICE LIST, you need to set the Orlando Bluetooth to "Search" mode, then concurrently go to your phone, and through the Bluetooth settings menu, select the car's bluetooth; for convenience sake, suggest you name your car bluetooth by number plate; so easier to locate next time; also easy for your other passengers to find it...

You can set your car's bluetooth name via the setup/customization menu...

I've done this for a number of phone units... including a friend's Sony Xperia L (As he wanted to play some songs for us); and even an old Ipad1 which i use as a temporary in-car entertainment system until i buy a proper tablet for my kiddo... (The mid row charging point compliments this)

Hi Fake

Front passenger airbag disable is located at the console panel on the passenger side; need to disassemble the cover. Other way is to access via the glovebox.

Total 3 power sockets 1 in each row.

Thanks for the reply.

For the latest batch, the third row socket is missing as shown below.

The airbag disable can be accessed through the glovebox?
I thought it will be at the side of the front panel like it was shown in the manual?
