[:)] Just bought the DOD 580HD in car recorder - mounted in car them went out on test- the quality in HD mode is very good - spent some time setting up but there is plenty of help via DOD site load into computer and also using Google Earth it shows ever street that the camera recorded in- just have to make sure the letter "G" is showing on screen then the unit has picked up the navigation sats, prior to this i had the Sentient in car 2 channel the video from it was good if you only had that choice but this blasts it into the past

Bro could you bring your GSE580 on your hand in an open space, can you detect the GPS signal say within 5min? I just want to find out whether your unit able to detect the GPS first. Also did you enable also please refer to DOD GSE580 manual page 40-41.Page 40 = set it as ON & Page 41 = KM/H.

 

Because every unit that i handover to customer, i want them witness themself that the unit able to detect the GPS singnal. Before close the deal.

Let me know if you need further help, even though you bought thr GSE580 from somewhere else, i will try my best to help you.

Hi Jeunes,

 

 

I am still thinking which i better.

 

On the Left seems straight foward, Buy, Plug & Play, but cost slightly higher about 2x of the Right.

On the Right, need some modification before you could use, pricing half of Left.

Post #1. I can't get the GSE580 HP viewer to run on Windows 7. Same version runs fine on Vista. Has anyone else had this problem or have a solution? Thanks.

Hi Bro,

 

1st) May i know whether you bought the GSE580 from me? Or someone else?

Like i said earlier to everyone here, i am here to help on any GSE580 related issue but my customer will be top priority.

2nd) Please confirm whether is HP or HD player. If HD player, where do you get it? Are you able to playback using VLC player?

3rd) What problem do you encounter on the HD Player? Can briefly describe? Any error or pop up?

4th) As you mentioned, the unit will not save any video after you shutdown your engine. Before you shutdown the engine can you see the red circle flickering on the LCD, also what is the setting for USB OUT? DURATION?

 

Please reply the above questions, i am most willing to provide you support.

Hi Bro,

 

Thanks for getting back to me. I bought the unit elsewhere (I live in Australia).

 

I am using the HD player that came with the unit. I also downloaded the one from the DOD site with the same results. The failure is a pop-up window with a yellow triangle followed by: Play movie file failed. I can play the movies on all other players.

 

I am not actually losing the last file. I lose about the final 2 minutes at the time the machine shuts down. Below are all my settings (for completeness). Upon shutdown the screen comes to life, I see the rotating circle. It looks sort of like what one might expect.

 

I have noted 2 additional problems. On a 3 hour drive I looked up and saw the monitor window on with the rotating circle that never went away. It locked the machine. Had to do a reset.

 

I am also not getting G forces showing on the HD player.

 

Your opinion would be valued. Thanks.

Hi Bro,

 

1) I assume that you downloaded the DOD Player from the link below:

If you didnt, please re-download it again.

http://www.dod-tec.com/images/downloads/DODPlayer.rar

Extract all the files out from the zip to your desktop.

 

2) Please download the K Lite Codec from the link below (mentioned in GSE580 Manual page 63) & install it in you PC

Restart your PC.

 

3)Copied your video recorded by GSE580 on the Desktop, Double click DODPlayer.exe to run the DOD Player

 

4)Click the search button (located on the right top) & select the recorded video recorded by GSE580

 

5)Right bottom the Search button, you will see a file appear at the playlist

 

6)Double click & you will see the video played on the DOD Player

 

The above step should solved your POP up error.

 

 

 

 

Another issue raised up by you ,is about the recording issue.

 

1)I would like to know, what kind of recording you wanted?

Record when start Engine, Record when there is motion?

Alot of your settings conflict & causing you not knowing whats happening & suspecting the unit faulty.

 

2)Would you want the GSE580 will shutdown after you power off the engine?

Based on your current settings you send, GSE580 will run for the next 3 minutes before it shutdown. Therefore the unit did not shutdown immediately. If you want immediately please change the USB OUT = Power OFF.

3)Would you want the GSE580 record by motion recording / always record for the next 3 minutes till it shutdown after engine is off?

Based on your current settings you send, GSE580 will stay on for the next 3 minutes before it shutdown. After you turn off the engine, then the motion recording takes over.

 

When there is motion = recording start & will only stop 1 minutes after last motion detected ( POST REC 1 MIN ) after 3 minutes the recording will stop be it still reording or not,as USB OUT has higher priority than POST REC.

 

When there is no motion = no recording (3 minutes later it will shutdown, because you USB OUT = 3min)

This could be the reason where you lost the 2 minutes clip, because there is no motion for the next 2 minutes, as you might left the car already = no recording.

4)Regarding the round blue circle on the screen, i need you to monitor, when it happen again on your unit, can you see the timing on the bottom of the screen is it 00:00:00 when the blue circle is circling? If this is true, then most likely your memory card is full, although you set the recycle as 10min, it could be that most of the video was set as protection mode, this will not allow the GSE580 overwrite these video.

What memory card you using? Which Class? What is the Storage Capacity?

 

5)Unable to see the G forces on the DOD Player?

-You are unable to view the video ( getting error on DOD Player ), how can you see your speed on the graph.

-You will need to have the GPS signal lock on your GSE580, so that you have the gps data is stored on your DOD memory card,this is required before the player key the speed of your car on the graph

-How you are able to tell on the GSE580 whether GPS signal is lock on? On the main screen of GSE580, you will see the "G" on the top right hand corner. If there isnt, then GPS signal is not lock on, try standing in an open space with your GSE580 & see whether you will see the G.

Bought a unit from Johan - TranscendentSolutions yesterday. Helpful and informative chap I must say.

 

On 1st look, the Built quality seems to be pretty good although I would prefer a higher resolution display
