Only problem with this new car is you must always bring a 200m cord with you. This car only runs on electricity, like the BMW i8

I'm interested in the electric B class. But have some queries on the amount of electricity to fully power up the car. Is it more economical on terms of km per dollar as compared to say a hybrid car?

Say a shuttle hybrid. Real life of 20km/litre @ $2. Every km is 5 cents.

How much does it cost for the electric B class cost per km?

The UK merc website says it's 200km range.

28KwH batt capacity.

Current electricity rate is 20cents per KwH.

So every full charge will cost $5.60 giving a range of 200km.

Therefore each km will cost slightly below 3 cents.

Did I miss out anything?

Cost of making a special plug at your home and maybe workplace for the charging since it won't fit your regular 220V socket.

Cost of battery replacement

Cost of service or adoption fee by C&C.

Being the only one in the country sometimes doesn't pay..

But if C&C brings it in, it's very interesting.

Electricity to increase by 50% upon C&C implementation :)

Double your cost, cos the range is easily half base on electric cars reviews of other brands and models.

It's actually built by Tesla, so it's not that bad. They needed to install it in a car that was not designed from the start for it.

200km is pretty sufficient for our needs..

Got my figures wrong.

Shuttle hybrid $2 for 20km= 10cents per km. More towards 12cents becos real life about 17-18km

B electric. Assuming electric cost dun increase and batt maintain charge and dun deplete drastically is 3cent per km. Worst case 6cents. Still at least 50% better than shuttle hybrid and the avg petrol cars.

Than there's the diesel. Say a Picasso 5 seat. Real life about 15-16km per $1.3 of diesel cost= 8 cents per km.

Does it still make sense to go full electric?

It's interesting, but there's no B Class in the showroom at Alex, and the recent promotions don't show any B Class either..

Well, that's the thing, nothing from my rep, and nothing on the grapevine..

But they sold a whole bunch last year during a promotion and maybe now they want to move other models..

But come next year, it will be exciting to see if this car retains or improves on the 5k rebate VES..

Despite 'only' having 122 BHP and 200nm of torque, it's pretty quick when you really press on, and it can take corners at 3 digit speeds .. sticks to the tarmac well..

Hi bros, need some advice... I'm in the midst of changing my old A class (W169) to the new B class.

The new B class doesn't come with built-in GPS. C&C quoted 2K + GST to install. They say it's a 3rd party system and have nothing to show as a demo. Is it worth getting or go outside instead to get a GPS installed?

The new car has no camera recording. C&C says they can install for me, but their system doesn't record after the engine is turned off. I have another car with a power magic box that keeps recording when parked and engine is off, but C&C says this type will keep drawing on the battery, so the warranty for the car will become invalid. Any suggestions whether I should get the C&C camera or do you have other places to install and won't invalidate the warranty?

Also, I am looking for a mat to protect my car boot. Like when I load heavy luggage etc, don't want it to scratch the floor of the boot. Any ideas where to get this for the B class?

My idea is that all built in maps are currently useless as 3rd party phone apps such as Waze or even goggle maps are even better. Constantly updated for new roads + traffic conditions. This is important especially in Singapore which the roads are constantly changing now. I think the new B already comes with Apple Carplay? that will be good enough?

Warrnty only becomes void for battery if you installed your own camera. (I did to Iroad). Other than that, warranty will remains for others according to the purchase contract.

Go for taobao to do whatever you want to protect the car. Lots of choices.

Additional: If you can squeeze in a leather wrapped steering wheel for the B class if you are going for style edition will be best. Still can't imagine a luxury car that doesn't come with a leather wrapped steering wheel.

No more stock of the B Class for this year..

I wonder if it will keep the 5k rebate or fall into the neutral band for 2018..
