Hi bros.. just wanted to update that I got my B180 a little over a week ago. Waited from Dec-16 until Jul-17 for it to be built and shipped over. The long wait was because they didn't have stock for the colour combination I wanted and it had to be ordered from the factory.

 

Interestingly, I have seen the display car in the showroom get sold twice. Once back in Dec they had a mountain grey piece, and more recently a white one. Seems some people don't mind taking the display car to avoid the 6-7 months waiting time.

 

This year's B-Class MY17 model gets Apple CarPlay thrown in as standard, though it's a bit clunky as the floating iPad screen is not touchscreen. There is no option for Android Auto, which Android users may want to take note of.

 

I also notice that my rear bumper has a chrome lip, which many of the B-Classes on the road don't seem to have. Not sure if this was already there for earlier FL models.

Anyway I asked my rep

There's no facelift due next year, although they may change the feature set.

The chrome lip is part of the 2015 facelift.

There are a few other upgrades including the drive modes and for 2017 you get CarPlay.

Mercedes B Class Drivers are mainly family men who have kids and looking for a comfortable ride that can carry tons of stuffs.

Majority of us are not looking to zhnging our ride, gain more power, look more fierce, or even audio modifications.

Well there's always a certain mod fever right after buying a car.. especially if it's our first Merc ;)

 

If you really want to spend, here are some ideas:

 

- wrap the steering wheel

- add red rings around the vents

- add a magnetic CD slot phone holder

- new carpets

- boot tray

- fire extinguisher

- tire inflator / or even buy a spare from ebay

- use Ron 98

- swop out the still new tires for non Run Flats

 

Additional stuff that may void your warranty:

- your 2018 model should have Carplay, otherwise you can add it for around 3k from Elebest

- ECU upgrade - in case you bought a breadvan when you really wanted a GTI ;)

- I find the speakers ok, but you can always spruce up the speakers

- your car should come with the Car Essentials package, but if it didn't, you can always add PPS and such

- add a GPS

- add park mode and the corresponding battery

Haha.. i have pump esso 95 for 3 year plus still working fine for me.. It doesn't burn petrol so fast also...

Yes, I did check out the SGmerc too. Very informative as well even though the discussion is getting slower lately (even in MyCarForum), guess it is because B is a model launched quite sometime already, less new feature to discuss, plus profile of driver probably incline towards family type and hence less discussion on modification.

Fully agreed with you. I bought it because of the interior space. Been trying the CLA but it is cramped for me at the driver seat while passages seat lagi worse. 

 

No lar, not to discuss kids homework lar. The idea of group chat is to release stress (esp to discuss outing) and not add stress (kid homework, tuition).

Talking about driver gathering/outing, I actually bumped into the founder of SGMerc at one of the courses I attended together with him. He is indeed very nice guy and good to chat with. I actually feedback to him that I wanted to join the SGMerc gathering but after looking at the picture of the past gathering, I started to think twice. Those who attended the gathering are mostly driving higher end model like S class, SLC, GLS, or heavily modified CLA or coupe. I know they will welcome B class driver too but just don't feel comfortable (maybe it is me only). Anyway, he just smiled and said it is ok, just come.

I think there are a few MB groups in Singapore. I went to one gathering recently by #MBTCSS at Kallang Cineleisure. No membership fees. I understand it is a spinoff from SGMerc. This group is on telegram. They share all info about Mercs. They are all very friendly and social able. Learnt quite a few things from them since I am also a 1st time Mercs owner. If you are interested to join the Telegram group, just pm me and I will let the admin know.

Actually I didn't know about Telegram and this is the 1st time I heard about it. In order word, I am probably not so "techy" because I am always a slow adopter of social media. BTW, no facebook, no twitter
