Need someone to explain the following sentence...

"Lean-burn mode indicates the engine is running at a super lean air/fuel ratio of around 20:1 !! Normal engines would probably have detonated itself to pieces way before getting anywhere near this ratio..."

 

Why would a lean mix lead to engine uplorry? If the engine can tahan consistently the 20:1 ratio means the engine block is very solid is it?

 

Appreciate gurus here to explain.
