^^In accordance with Section 17 of the Presidential Elections Act, Polling Day is a public holiday. As per public holidays falling on a Saturday, under the Employment Act, employees not required to work on that day are entitled to one day off in lieu or be given one day's pay.

Payment for work done on a public holiday

The Ministry would like to inform all employers that under the Employment Act, an employee who is required to work on a public holiday is entitled to an extra day's salary at the basic rate of pay, in addition to the gross rate of pay for that holiday. The employer and employee may mutually agree to substitute a public holiday for any other day.

it says, "entitled to one day off in lieu or be given one day's pay" instead of having the "* The following Monday will be a public holiday"

Thus employer can just give Off in Lieu on another day, so tmr is still consider a normal working day, just day, most company prefer tmr as the off in order to enjoy long weekend.

I was also confused by the off in lieu for the PE, but my friend reminded me about Hari Raya Puasa on Tuesday, and tomorrow being the eve, opc under the new scheme can drive the whole day, so YEAH!

This is what MobileP@y reply me :

"Vechicle XXXXXXXX does not require an e-Day Licence on 29 Aug 2011 as it is eve of Hari Raya Puasa.

So 100% confirm for revised OPC.

This thread is a perfect example not to believe 100% of what you read online (included political threads) as some are just out there to mislead, whether intentional or not...
