tjs had no chance from the beginning & it was v obvious he was just there to create a name for himself so that he can get more followers for future use. He knew he cldnt win & used the PE as a broadcast tool for himself. In fact even as late as 1am+ he refused to concede defeat, just shows how thick skinned he is & how he wants to psycho his followers to continue to support no matter wat. His style is good for GE but not for PE.

If Aljunied GRC had 3 corner fight for GE2011, for sure p@p will win becoz of votes dilution. I feel sorry for TCB who won so many votes yet lost by few thousand only.

TJS will be back in 2016. but for which party and which election remains to be seen..

I think it is quite obvious that SDP will merge with NSP, probably under the NSP name, with TJS as the leader. This explains why WP is quite hostile to TJS. The era of the "Three Kingdoms" has arrived.

Re: the late OTC. While he was in office as EP, there were 'zero' action and was very quiet, at least to most people. It was only after his revealation after his term in office that people know what went on in the background. If OTC had stood for this PE, he will be heavily criticised, maybe even more (cos he stood down as DPM to run for the office) than TT.

So now that PE is over and a EP has been voted in. I now just hope that there will not be a need to ask our EP to exercise his executive power. I hope our economy and everything else is good. The substance or the lack of it will only be put to test in crisis when he need to exercise his exe power.

What make WP stands out from the rest of the opp parties is they hold moderate views, go slow and steady, not to unsettle the system unless neccessary and most importantly oppose only if need to and give credit if a job is done well. WP is pretty much like PAP but on the other side of the field.

firstly, NSP very clearly did not endorse TJS. Nicole had to be very clear about that.

Secondly, the secretary general of SDP is a very "strong" Chee Soon Juan. I doubt TJS will become the leader.

Seriously 37000 pple went down to voting centre to have their vote rejected???

Bro had the same thought when I watched the CNA this morning.

What were these people thinking?

Granted some of them were genuinely mistakes in marking on the ballot paper but what about the mass majority?

Protest votes?

Pity...

Maybe some see all 4 Tans' cannot make it.. and also thinking TT sure win.. so just split vote.. as end result will still be TT win...

End result shows those split vote is very important.. if they would vote one of their choices..

Some says PAP was betting that by allowing > 3 candidates in PE, the chance is that the swing against it can be diluted, not unlike the mistakes made in GE by oppositions where there were 3 corner fights over GRC. Their strategy works.

TT may have "won", but with only < 1% margin, I certainly won't call this a majority mandate by the People.

Still, TT will have to prove that he is up to the benchmark set by Ong Teng Cheong, whose legacy will haunt every elected President that came after him.

Totally agree.....i will feel malu when only 30% of the ppl actiually sarpork me......but well, they thick skin

Though TT won, he did not win by a significant majority.

Moreover his nomination telecasts cannot be used without hearing all the boo-ings in the background. ST cannot publish a "landslide" victory for him.

Probably had TKL withdrew, TCB might stand a chance. Now he not only had to admit defeat, he lost his election deposit as well. Reminds me of the 3 corner fight during GE. His last minute attempt of smearing TJS to get sympathy votes didn't work too well.

TJS's "confrontational" approach may actually see him get more votes instead. This is after LTK's analogy of slapping the driver. His 25% win does signify a change in the political landscape. It's hardly possible to see a political nobody to rise up within 4 months getting this % in a 4 way fight.

n that is wat most pple want which is y they r the strongest opposition. I thk within 20yrs, we will see 2/3 opposition in parliament, & in 30-50yrs, opposition as majority & the cycle starts all over again.

Forgone conclusion. I won't hail him though. Not a must to hail him right? :D

on hindsight of the 0.34% margin, it was not a forgone conclusion that TT would win...

Just wasted a whole night's sleep to see TT take 4m a year and 24m in his term.

Personal view: TKL is a mole....

more than 24m in his term. have you consider his bouns and AWS?
