When yor a police officer you'll always have to pay attention to possible drunk drivers driving on the streets. In fact drunk drivers tend to runaway from police cars and sometimes even try to make the most incredible stunts in order to runaway.

Well, this time it didn't happen that way.

(Oklahoma City) August 20, 2011 around 6:30pm an OCSO deputy driving westbound on SW 29th Street near S. Pennsylvania Avenue was struck head on by a man driving eastbound in the westbound lane. The deputy received some minor inuries to his leg and his K-9 partner was checked by an emergency veterinary clinic as a precaution.

Why didn't the police driver pull to his right the same as the truck in front did.

He was turning left into oncoming traffic no matter the DD.

It was really unpredictable...the car came from nowhere!!! The cops didn't have the time turn away...

Probably some psychological reaction thing. At the last moments before he could see the oncoming car, the white truck veered right and occupied the right lane. Only the opposite left lane is empty, and the brain perceived it as the safest of either direction. Unfortunately, it's not.

Natural instinct. In USA driver sits on the left. By pulling left u r protecting yourself so that you don't face the incoming vehicle.

Just like in SG u c a incoming head on collision natural instinct to turn right.

Depends whether you are left or right handed. BTW - in the US, if you pull left - you are turning into traffic.

That's why there is a safety distance that you must keep from other vehicles...with trucks you should make that distance wider for your own safety
