Quantum 5th Gear August 26, 2011 Author Share August 26, 2011 2011 Elantra is a facelift of Avante and used back the old Elantra name for this facelift meant for export set. Whereas in South Korea, the Avante name only reserve to be use in the country of the origin. how is Elantra's FC and accelerate? ↡ Advertisement

Abachee 2nd Gear August 26, 2011 Share August 26, 2011 (edited) how is Elantra's FC and accelerate? The FC is not bad after the initial run-in. Have been clocking Average 7.7-9L/100km. And the pickup is Superb and unbelievable fast and silky smooth. But of cos cant be comparable to those car with turbo. And the ride itself is like daring you to rev them higher and eager to sprint lidat. Enjoying every moments with it now and a plus point is that is an head turner where ever you drive too. You can get to see them now on the road esp on the East side as most of the Elantra was spotted. One word to describe it, Shiokadoo. Haha... It's the same thing I ever mention in the 2011 Elantra thread. It's the combine look & mix breed of a Mazda3, Civic & Lexus IS250. Quantum 5th Gear August 26, 2011 Author Share August 26, 2011 My personal choice would be Elantra in the choices given. If look is not important, there are other cars like City, Sylphy, Latio etc...almost in the same price range. look at the trend, Korean cars are going to overtake Janpanes cars in term of Power, FC, relability, Safrty factor, interior space etc, and price is much lower in new launch phase

Sktan10 5th Gear August 26, 2011 Share August 26, 2011 Elantra have climate control which is auto and you can dial the turning knob manually to half of the full turn with touth button of temperature control and with temperature set at 23 degree Celsius with half of full turn power blast. My family and other passenger who is sitting behind oredi complaining freezing cold liao. Haha... It's like in a ice skating ring Lidat. Good to hear that elantra air-con is powerful.Maybe they up-grade the compressor. The avante air-con really weak compare to most 1.6cc car but good point is the headroom is the best among all four cars. Colleage avante owner try the elantra comment that headroom is poor eps back passenger,is it true? I m 1.82m & son is 1.85m,can fit?
Tayspiderx 3rd Gear August 26, 2011 Share August 26, 2011 Recently been in Alpine showroom...seriously feel that they are quite stingy with their options. Missed the days when the principle appoints second distributor, more competition = buyer gain more .
PPeripheraL Clutched August 26, 2011 Share August 26, 2011 I very doubt Elantra1.6A FC 14.9km/L Power 130bhp normally Hyundai always over claim their performance for the fc claims made by Hyundai, it is quite accurate and true. refer to elantra owners thread and you can actually find some of our bros fc.. if i'm right one of us has achieved nearly 14.9km/l.. power cannot be determined unless you are willing to go for a dyno test..but by that time you have already bought the car haha.. but if you determined to save fuel aka eco mode, the pick-up is relatively slow. if not the pick-up is quite good if you are not that into saving money. I m 1.82m & son is 1.85m,can fit? the aircon is indeed powerful.. the headroom at the back is poor if you are comparing to latio/vios etc.. due to sloping roofline. actually most important is the height from your butt to the head not overall.. some people have legs which contributes most to the height (meaning legs long, body short etc).. 1.75m can sit comfortably with a bit of headroom left. (about 3-5cm)
Quantum 5th Gear August 26, 2011 Author Share August 26, 2011 Agree with u that cruze is cramp compare with avante, altis & forte. Avante air-con is not strong enough compare to the other 3 cos friends & colleage driving all the above. Not sure about the new elantra. heard alot regarding Chevolet got bad FC, can any owner confirm?

Yo bro, im 1.86m, can sit nicely in front or back. center would not be a good idea as my head will block the rear view mirror when im driving, the seat is push slightly more to the back but passenger still has space. Abachee 2nd Gear August 29, 2011 Share August 29, 2011 After spending 100k on ur elantra, u better have no regrets! Nope. I have no regrets & I am thrill to drive it everyday as I got lots more to discover on this ride. But the way, I paid $89,999 for the Elite model without the sunroof (with sunroof add $1k) before the public launch. Anyway, there is a Test drive shoot out of these 3 car publish in this September Torque magazine and Forte edge out the Elantra by slim margin to be the winner. The flashy fluidic Elantra which offer the roomiest, classiest cabin and a smooth drive makes its conpetitor look tired, comes very close to winning the shoot contest. As the asking price is too steep, the judges feel that had it been at least $6k cheaper while still offering the same spec & equipment. It would have won the shootout hands-down. For those who are still considering or looking of getting a 1.6L family saloon below $100k and is comparing among these 3 rides. It's best to get one of the September issue Torque and found out more in their detail writeout abt the pros & cons of these 3 car. Happy Reading.....
