Lexus RX300 CRACKSSS!!!

Hi,

 

Asking on behalf of my friend as he is looking at used Lexus RX300 but notice quite a long hairline crack on the passenger dash itself. Is this common for lexus Rx300? Any Lexus owner can comment? Lastly, where can we go to buy common parts for Lexus? Waterloo??? Many thanks for any input.

Do not think a crack on the dashboard is common for any car..

It is not exactly common but have seen similar problems on this model before. A change of dashboard should do the job.

i am driving a IS250 i thought the dash is rather rubbery? How can it be a crack? It's not plastic in IS250.

I would take a mechanic to see if there was any accidents in the car's history.

I've heard of cases where car's dashboard cracked under the hot sun in jurong island.. but not sure what material

i have seen the car and really its crack...i wonder why. Did a google search and there are indeed some issue on it. But its strange to me coz even a old civic eg, its dashboard may not crack and the this is just a 5 year old lexus with pretty low mileage. Unless the owner bring it for suntan everyday...thats why hoping any existing or ex rx300 owner for their experience. Thanks.

cannot what. singapore so hot, how to avoid car suntanning? i think its more of hot+cold in quick succession.

Sounds like the same problem as the Mark X i used to own for a short period. The dashboard will just crack after about 2 years of usage. And mind you, it is a huge hairline crack.

are you looking at a toyota harrier that was on auction recently? i noticed the dash had a big hole, like the plastic layer on top fell off.

i have a rx300 i have not had any problems with that. but before that i owned and is250 and the dash over the steering wheel cracked. it may be a lexus quality control issue

BM suggest not to do anything about it since air-bag is inside. Changing the whole dash is too expensive!

Is your RX frequently exposed to the sun? Seldom in shelter c/p?

 

UV damage can be very damaging also.

it was under the sun when the crack starts. But for past year, it has almost never seen daylight before. And still the crack continue to extend!!
