Jkcs Neutral Newbie August 21, 2011 Share August 21, 2011 Haha, true. Many people still switch on engine in the morning, and wait about 2-3 mins then move off! 2 - 3 mins very good already lor, some do their warm-up even longer, maybe till the indicator reached 1/4. ↡ Advertisement
Ken4555 1st Gear August 21, 2011 Share August 21, 2011 2 - 3 mins very good already lor, some do their warm-up even longer, maybe till the indicator reached 1/4. if you drive off immediately after you crank your car, do you know the damage to your piston rings and walls due to lack of engine oil circulating?... the combustion heat rapidly raising tempretures of the engine block and gaskets and all?... the inefficient burning of the petrol?... Ken4555 1st Gear August 21, 2011 Share August 21, 2011 So i guess it is not a myth to warm up engine lo?! do watever you want its your car... modern day cars are built to warm up much faster than cars of yester-years... and in SG weather the car is not cold enough to require long warm ups... and yes i believe warming up the car too long will waste petrol and have excessive carbon built up... but to drive off immediately after you crank the car is .... the oil hasnt even circulated... If your car only park overnight and drive off everyday, maybe no need to warm up so long. But if your car is park for a longer period of time or park at temp very cold environment (like in genting), then maybe need to warm up longer before you drive off.
