Anyone tried this:

http://evoscan.com/free-ecu-rom-downloads

Keen to try, but would like to hear from people who have tried it before.

i have it on my ex car(evo 9). Very useful to me as it served my purpose together with a free opensource software for refleshing. I used it mainly to log my wideband o2 readings and later mostly to collect water, oil temp and knock counts logs. At one time, i went bold and tried tuning my car. End up got too involved my exo was producing pops and spliting fire every time i releases the gas. it was fun while it last as i was called up by you know who due to love letter on one particular unsafe car on road...haha

anyway,it wasn't ex so i say go for it!!

Wow, sounds fatal. Good thing it's reversible.

I'm not sure I understand - you didn't reflash with the pre-fixed parameters, but chose to self-tune? You didn't think the pre-fix is good enough for your Evo?

prefix? oh you mean they have already evolved into that? if i can get you, you are looking for something like those on offer in the market for conti rides in which you reflashed and drive off?

i guess it is highly likely to be similar now but with an advanatge which you could actually log it if you want. Ok i did not go thru the site so i may be entirely wrong [laugh]

As for me here, i brought it 1 year back with the aim to better my FC. i lied. there was no prefixed map in this logger at that time. Bascially i used their software to extract real time parameters for display to my laptop and for data logging only. The software itself is quite cheap. It cost me about US$20 with free updates. The main cost to that is the cable( thier poprietary product) that is used to talk to the ecu. Can't rem the price. should be less than US$200

To flash maps into my ecu, i used a freely available software called openecu, which allows me to change parameters, enable or disable options etc. The basic maps i got was downloaded from the net as well. With that, it gave me some thing to work with. Not forgeting i still have the stock map for sanity check in case i went too far. May not be helpful to you but just to make it clearer.

Hope that helps

Oho..maybe I'm wrong. I've got the impression that it's pre-fixed. I think you may be right - it's for extracting real time parameter and self tuning. Don't think I'll take the risk in playing around the parameters, even if it's reversible. Your explanation helps a great deal.

Now the million dollar question: you know of any place where I can download pre-fixed ECU reflash parameters? [:p]

Sorry for the late reply. Swamped with work lately and sleepless nights keeping track with the us market..not to worry, I am kapo-ing only..trying to sense when the market is heading next. As for the million dollar question, I bet, a risky one haha, our local tuners are capable as long as they have the means to access the ecu, which I believe is possible now. As to downloading maps from the net, not really ideal for your apps here unless you know what you are doing. sorry can't help much in your quest.
