Do you still remember your very first mods??

Switched to my 1st performance tyre S02 and thereafter, I "modded" my driving technique as well.

My very first mod was an 'extractor' installed by a ICT fren, all in about $400 and the mid range torque improvements were very obvious..... back in those days when engines didnt have ECU, just carb/distributor... [:p]

WoW! A Toyota Carina!! Love 'em old skool JDMs!

The very last Carina in Singapore went to the scrap heap just recently this year. Would've loved to get a final look at it on our roads here in Singapore but alas, I didn't make it to the farewell meet-up organised by my car club. [smallcry]

Haha! My first mods were done on a Vios. Rims and tyres first, followed by TEIN coilovers. Afterwhich came a TTE exhaust & Blitz open-pod, then came the 4-2-1 extractor and a slew of other, mostly useless, minor mods which wasn't very clever of me! [blush] Haha! Still miss those days of being young and foolish! [laugh]

that was my very first car abt 15 years ago. it attracted alot of stares fr the other road users. unfriendly stares, dat is. hahaha.....

then subsequently i changed to the Suzuki GTi. dat one was a great car, besides the cannot make it a/c. drive the car on a hot day and i can really curse and swear all the way..

It was during 1991 I believe when the ADM R32 GTR dominate the all the races in Australia coming in 1st and 2nd (I think they only got 2nd and 3rd in 1 or 2 races that whole year!). After that year, Holden and Ford pretty much made it clear that they will withdraw the funding etc if they still allow the GTR to race.

I know V8 can be good too but how many....? New SLK55 AMG lost to my 1995 Nissan when I only got a retune and catback exhaust mod (which is kinda like the same mod AMG got). If I didnt have the lag, I think he can really smell the smoke. Then again, I wouldnt mind an AMG too [:p] but for racing, my current car is more suitable since I can enter homologated series.

I still have the videos of the early Bathurst races including the GTRs' wins [thumbsup]

i guess your Nissan eats all the high performance Commodores/Falcons for breakfast :D

Probably unless they're heavily modded (they can get quite scary when mod). But then again, they're very hard to get traction and spins a lot. Anyway I dont normally have street races with those cars because they might be undercover cops!

There was a 35GTR during that drag which did 11.2s! I'm guessing he's got a retuned ECU but thats still bloody quick for a stock car.

I like them too. S2000, NSX, and DC5 Integras.

You can always get a smaller one in SG. My Sis got a 2nd hand 1year old Jazz with full option pretty low mileage from memory, for 52k last year. But recently changed to Scirocco TSI cause its a bargain.

I dont understand the reason for the import restrictions in SG. They should allow exotic or performance cars at the very least. The likes of old Camaros, Stingrays and of course the good old GTRs. More than likely these cars will hardly be driven (weekends) and will just add to the profit they're making from selling COE.

that's pretty impressive..... [thumbsup]... btw wish we could have some legal drags race here, an properly organised one will provide an outlet for car enthusiasts...

I understand that in AUS, you just need an qualified auto engineer to certify the mods (not necessary a cert from original manufacturer) and the car will become legal.... very enlightened way of doing things. our LTA's mind is as old as dianosures' ....

ya, the coupe look nicer, but that's abt it. everything is pretty much the same as it's 4 door cousin including the fuel guzzling engine.

i think both are 1.6L, not 1.8. and yes, mine was a drinker. but maybe bcoz when i got it it was already a 16yo car 15 years ago. and it drives like a sampam. can only do 150km/hr. max. hahahaha.

btw, u got pm

Very nice. Nowadays they all come stock witl Bilstein I think. They're awesome shocks.

Hahaha. Its insane how much the stupid gov spend on that though. Just to name a few, they have cars like Golf R32, GTI, Evo X, Falcon FPV and Holden HSVs. Basically any ADM cars which isnt too over (example of being over is AMG, M3 etc). Racing an import on the road is the safest. Hahaha!

I thought SG got track liao? I'm sure something will come up in the future. Its a money making thing while reducing the number of illegal races on public roads.

Yes we have auto engineers which can certify mods (e.g. more than 2 intake mods, non adjustable bucket seats etc) based on Australian Mod Standard . There are some mods which doesnt need certifications though if you know it comply to standards (e.g. car cannot be lower than 100mm at the loweest point of the car).

I just got my swiss pork in April, so I wont be changing so soon.

But I really loved the civics ever since I was a kid

was particularly fond of the vtec hatchback back in the early 90s..

the crx and prelude were beautiful as well.. certainly a futuristic design back in the 90s!

but it seems honda's designers have ran out of ideas.. except the current FDs! [;)]
