Anyone with any idea how to clean alcantara?

Alcantara is usually an expensive additional option for car seats/steering wheel/gear stick. However, one wonders how these can be maintained and cleaned properly, as there does not seem to be much literature or products out there on this topic. I have noticed how alcantara steering wheels/gear sticks tend to peel/flake after long usage, causing an uneven tone. If there are food stains etc, it will be easy to just wipe them off a leather seat, but I wonder what to do if the stains are on alcantara seats.

 

Is there a specialist or someone out there who has a great technique on alcantara maintenance? Thanks in advance!

I don't need one actually, my alcantara is covered.. TS is looking for one however.

Hi, may I ask what you mean by "covered"? Do you tape up your alcantara with the 3M guard? Then, won't feel the texture of the alcantara already right? Kinda defeats the purpose to have alcantara option in the first place, doesn't it?

But how do you use the cleaner? Spray onto the alcantara, then wipe dry? Won't this leave an uneven tone or cause peeling if you wipe too hard? Or just wet a cloth with the cleaner, then dab onto the alcantara surfaces? I'm just mindful about unnecessary rubbing the alcantara too hard, or causing uneven tone.

Car Pride does deep-extraction cleaning. I got quoted $250 for my Subaru. Decided to use Febreeze, spray till damp and wipe up with a cloth (lint free pls). Cloth turn black and seats smell good.

Use the Alcantara cleaning kit supplied, or use moist cloth and clean it. Bring it to professionals for cleaning once a year.

Sonax alcantra cleaner is quite easy to use. It's a foamy solution (like gillette shaving foam), just apply it on the alcantra and wipe off with a clean dry cloth. The alcantra is very tough so you don't have to worry about peeling.
