Why can't Malays song be sang in R&B style?

Of course can..

But my point is ask any 20 year old what is the meaning of the national anthem .. 80% won't know.. They dont even know the title of the song... 50% will tell you its MARIKITA and won't know the meaning either ... So that's why I asked this question.

That has nothing to do with the language. It is the national education system that fail us.

I m not musician. Of course i can't. Once the music is re-arranged, it is definitely can. The only question is: Is it legal?

Does "The Star-Spangled Banner" comes in Hispanic? USA has a large community of Hispanic who can't speak English.

One of my favorite renditions of the National Anthem "Majulah Singapura" by a Singaporean.

Those who say national language is English, must be FT or new citizen in disguise. Even my late uneducated Teochew grandmother who left Swatow 70 years ago knows its Malay.

The title is "March of the Volunteers" written during Sino-Japanese War (later WWII) for the KMT's campaign (those guys in Taiwan now) against Imperial Japan.
