Proton Cars Are Actually Not That Bad....

I am posting this not because I bought a just gotten a Satria Neo. But having test drive other hatch backs like Swift and Jazz, I must say for the price its not a bad car.

It handles very well with its stock suspension and good high speed stability. Even at 190KM/H, can feel the car hugging the road and the bumps on the road. There is no "floating" feel.

For cornering, it has some understeer but its quite forgiving. Even when the rear does lose grip, it does not snap out suddenly and easily allows me to regain control of the car.

Its short wheel base and low height also makes it very agile. Its like a point and shoot car.

Of course, the interior isn't anything fantastic (mostly plastic) but since its cheaper than most Jap/Korean makes, I can't exactly complain too much.

Overall, I am impressed. This is my first venture in Malaysian cars and I have to say I am impressed.

Supercharged

neo is overall a good car..

too bad, we only have the first gen, you ought to see their cps edition.

even look much sporty.

as for the interior, admit that it's terrible..

mind me asking your height? i tried to get a neo before but feel my head is touching the roof..

although i am not tall either, only 167cm

the rear leg room, really too little, after all it's a 2 door car.

i hope to see a much improvised neo in the near future

I would say it depends on what you are after.

Yes, I can see that build quality is not that great. Body panel alignment is still not as good esp. when compared Jap/Korean cars. The plastic interior is bland. Its definitely less comfortable compared to family Sedans like Vios/Latio or Cerato Forte/Avante etc.

However, I am not so much into comfort or NVH. I am more into handling and performance rather interior and NVH. Thus its not so much of an issue to me.

Its also pretty easy to maintain.

I don't know about other Proton cars because the Satria Neo is the only one I have tested.

Maybe Satria is be one of the more decent cars Proton has made? Cause it does cost quite a bit more than other models like Gen2, Saga etc. When I bought my Satria, it cost almost 10K more than a Gen2 when both are same 1.6L engine.

enjoy ur ride!

Thanks. I am really enjoying it. Just that its somewhat underpowered.

If I could drop in a 2L turbo..... it would be awesome. Maybe a 3SGTE or 4G63T?
