Will be changing to them once I'm done with my Goodyear Asymmetric F1.

Watch out for the GY Asymm F1 sidewall.

Do a google on cracked sidewall.

Go for BS Turanza GR90 and you would know wat quiet & comfort it offer.

Yes, there are rave reviews on GR90's legendary silence and comfort. My wife's car is on Hankook ME01, and it's surprisingly silent and comfortable. I was certainly impressed.

haha.... it is not like that bro. I am not that rich!

 

Happened that my stock 17" tyres were finished and due to the heavy rainfalls during the month of May, I proceeded to change the worn out Goodyear RFTs to the S1 Evo.

 

Then within 2 weeks of that, I saw this set of 19" rims that I wanted for a long while and went ahead and bought that. :wub:

 

Thus the 2 sets of tyres within a period of about 2+ months. [knife]

 

I read somewhere that S1 Evo is out of production. That can only mean there's a replacement model launching soon once the S1 Evo stock is depleted. I wonder if I should wait.....only 2mm thread left.....

Bro,

i was on 2 sets of GY asym, on 265/35/18, no issue of sidewall crack like they mention about their range on 35 sidewall profile. even went NS did 200plus km/h, no problems.

Other than RE-070, the wet grip of the hardcore Yoko/BS tyres are better than what you expect. The wet grip of Re-11 comes pretty close to the legendary S-02 which I used 10 years ago.

To those who don't mind spending a bit more, the tyres are worth their weight in price. To me, safety matters more than $$$.

 

 

The problem with hardcore tyres is that they are biased towards dry grip. Wet grip is very important to me, after learning from a few incidences of slithering like a snake on wet surfaces. That's one thing I will not want to sacrifice.

 

I was on GY F1 GSD3 (Made in Australia) once, and I know what you mean by sidewall strength. All 4 of my tyres had semi-invisible circumferential cracks. It's a wonder it didn't explode during highspeed cruising. I heard F1 Asymmetrics also suffer the same fate.

Once you go on to better tyres, it'll be hard to turn back. If you like hardcore tyres, Yoko/BS high end tyres are the ones as their grip levels are more progressive and easier to control. If you want comfort, then Michelin will be the one.

 

I stay away from Goodyear as I don't trust the strength of their sidewall. Pirellis are a bit outdated, so I stay away from them as well.

 

 

My ride now is on Re-001, dad's car is on CSC3. Previous tyre is on Pirellis P Zero Rosso.

 

The Pirellis may be out in the market for a long time time but its a very good tyre with very very hard sidewalls, and very good grip in both wet and dry, last me till 40 000 mileage.

 

P Zero Rosso > CSC3 > RE001.

 

Will go back to Pirellis after my current RE001 wears off. Alot of super cars still using Pirellis as stock tyres ... Might try out P Zero, which is one grade higher then the Rossos' next time.

 

Didn't want to try out RE11 cause not too sure of its wet performance in the wet as pointed out by some forumers. The thread design seems more suited for extreme dry grip ...

Somemore the tyre wear rate is quite high, don't think it will last long.

 

Used before hankook and its not bad, cheap and good.

 

The only tyre brand that I will stay away is Falken, had an accident due to that.

But how does it compare to other brand tyres of tyres? Theres alot of different models/brands of tyre on the market, don't think you have tried all.

 

Alot of feedback from friends that have use RE11 say it does sacrifice some wet performane and it has a poor tyre wear rate.

 

Thats what put me off.

 

But I will say i will only believe what I hear from people with a pinch of salt until I try it out myself.

 

For example, i heard that Re001 is quite a good tyre, but after fitting it to my ride, I will say its only a average tyre.

 

Might try RE11 next time but I dont want to scarifice wet grip. Since you have used it before, can I ask if the RE11 hit 40 000 mileage before changing ?

2 of my criteria for selecting tyres are strong sidewall (for safety reasons) and reliability.

 

With this, my choices are narrowed down to only BS and Yoko. Pirelli is out due to tyre chunking issues. And hence, most of the tyres I used are BS/Yoko such as S02, S03, RE050, RE-01R,RE-11, AD07, AD08. In my earlier days of ownership, I had used hankook and Michelin as well but those are the normal grade tyres.

 

Feedback will depend on what tyres people used previously and what is their yardstick. For myself, it'll be based on the acceleration grip when I hit vtec and cornering speed for those 270 degree bends.

 

The tyres can last 40k of mileage easily, so I don't think the wear rate is poor. However, the grip does taper off after 30k (Same for AD08) , but still within manageable levels till 40k.

 

Also, I'll ask the tyre shop for feedback on tyres before I change and they usually give me pretty good feedback as I'm their regular customer (change tyre every 11-12 months).

But indeed the 17" only used for about 1000KM (less than a month) and has been sitting at home.

Am on Falken 912 225/45/17.. almost 50k plus km already.

 

going to change soon.. am eyeing on this s1 evo or.. csc3
