Wonder why folks take to this silly thing.

Some even get themselves injured or even died from it.

Maybe it is just me...

Watch the video of this young woman getting herself more than what she bargained for:

From STOMP:

http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...he_kitchen.html

Ouch, this is why you should NOT 'plank' in the kitchen

this_is_why_you_shouldnt_plank_in_the_kitchen-thumbnail.jpg

STOMPer billabong shares this video in a woman tries to 'plank' across two kitchen cabinets but fails horribly. Watch to see what happens to her!

'Planking' involves participants lying facedown in various settings and many Singaporeans seemed to have caught on to the fad.

The STOMPer said:

"Seems like the death of a 20-year-old Australian man has not been enough to deter people from planking.

"This one's just stupidity at its best.

"Did she really think her oven door could hold her weight?

"Hope this teaches everyone to not follow fads blindly and dangerously."

People die from road accidents.....did that stop you from driving?

People die from drowning...did that stop you from swimming?

People due from choking......did that stop you from eating?

Just have to be careful and practice your safety awareness.

Death is inevitable....that did not stop all of us from living it the way we want!!

There are practical reasons for your example.

Driving, to get to your destination.

Swimming, it' a sports to stay healthy.

Eating, no need to explain the purpose..

But Planking? For showing off?

Planking needs strong muscles.

Yes....showing off and train body stability!

Silly people will do silly things. There is no stopping them. It's makes for good entertainment for safe people like u n me to enjoy.

Turbocharged

This is what I call an epic fail!

Here planking is not a problem, but stupidity is. (and a lack of basic knowledge about your oven)

As long as no physical harm resulted from either the "performers" nor to the spectators then I am all for it.

However balancing yourself between the handgrip portions across a moving escalator or lying on a busy street for this so-called planking where injuries or even death might result then it is just plain stupidity at play IMHO. Many have proudly uploaded their acts to date & many more will do so.

There were also many cases of folks deliberately going near prohibited tiger or lion enclosures or jumping into it altogether to get photo shots or to pat these "cuddly" creatures respectively.

These jokers have either b*lls of steel or just deranged. When they committ those silly acts, they not only put themselves into harm's way but also to those rescuers when things goes wrong as well as to the animals which might attack these clowns out of instinct and get shot dead unfortunately.

Now the way you put it, i agree planking needs strong abs muscle. But can still do it in a safe environment like on the exercise mat. To do it like those in the video, it just plain showing off..

Well perhaps planking jokers following pakour trend but din hav the physical ability, so in place to satisfy their adventurous heart, they attempt to imitate similarly hazardous stunts.

In today's WSHA context, got a conduct risk assessment for this type of activity.

Not that anyone will do it though...

Even simple thing like not sitting in the correct posture due to incompatible chairs could land the boss into trouble.

All I can say to plankers is:

Do whatever you want but when in trouble 自己保重good luck!!!

And please don't drag others into it.

Eating, drinking, driving and swimming are necessities. Planking isn't. Your point of argument is fundamentally flawed...
