Stanchiam 1st Gear July 17, 2011 Author Share July 17, 2011 (edited) yeah. i noticed that also. wonder why. fast, do not need to unscrew, jack up or wait for oil to drain just suck out old oil then pour in new oil but disadvantage is not all old oil is drain away and those metal debris still stuck in the magnetized nuts coolant i know they do that, didnt know engine oil also do that. Yeobh 4th Gear July 17, 2011 Share July 17, 2011 (edited) Receive this info from friends - that Toyota Prius Hybrid & Corolla 1800 & 2000 cc are using plastic canister oil filter. To remove the canister, mechanic needs to exercise care and use the right tool to prevent damage to the plactic canister Edited July 17, 2011 by Yeobh
Fusionkoh Neutral Newbie July 22, 2011 Share July 22, 2011 Bro, since not much people is replying i guess not much harm done. However, the oil that you are using is very misleading. Always remember that good oil don't come cheap and cheap oil don't come good. For point A to point B cars, of coz any oil that passes through SG is at least of min required quality. However, it really depends of the spec of your car, your driving style and how often you are willing to change your oil. If your have all the required knowledge of engine oils and their compatibilities, of coz you can use that knowledge to save cost. Otherwise, i recommend sticking to the safest class of oil(5w40 or 0w40), fully syn and not hydrocracked and stick to 10k servicings. Also go for known brands, eg shell, mobil, castrol, OWS etc. Generally shld cost you btw 60 to 80 bucks if you manage to buy from giantmarts or servicing cost ranging from 110 to 140 for oil change + filter + labour. Such oil changing method will left the containminated oil in the engine... although the oil drain method will also left some old oil inside, but the sucking method is worst... Yeobh 4th Gear July 22, 2011 Share July 22, 2011 (edited) Old habits and practice are very difficult to change. The workshops in Japan have been using vacuum oil changer for more than 30 yrs. In Singapore , service stations were introduce to Japanese make vacuum oil changers ( Brand: Kitajima) with large glass dome as early as late 1970's. Surprising, up to date the idea still don't catch on even though shop operators are facing high rental, worker shortage and very small working space. High resistance to change in turns directly translate to low productivity and that means lower profit. Edited July 22, 2011 by Yeobh
