Yes bro it's fully stock except the lim. Nth done on e engine but quite used to the fc already. Pump till numb Liao machaim like drivin s80 or a accord. Or maybe it's under powered therefore the high fc. Avante not known for gd fc.

i heard a few other Hyundai models (older ones) also not very good at FC... my bro drove one before.. [:(]

I DIY so the parts cost me <$10.

1st I used to get 9-10km/lit when I just bought n after my usual service of synthetic oil etc.

Then I changed the steel rims to sports rims n upgrade from 14" to 16" n got 11-12km/lit.

Last was the grounding then getting 13-14km/lit.

good [thumbsup] ..... your $10 was recovered straight away....

btw, didnt know changing to sports rims (lighter?) can make such a difference [:)]

U drive Lancer Wagon? Very few around. I hardly see them on the road.

And ya, my Optra Estate slightly under 1.4 tons. [sweatdrop]

Mindef used to have a few lancer wagons as GP cars (the Wira body shape type) last time..... i got a feeling your estate uses thicker steel for body panels.... tought but heavy :D

btw, always see Mindef's civilian cars come with a guni-kong at the tip of the exhaust, what is it?

Only done consistent calculation for these few:

1994 Mazda 323, owned for 3 years. Strangely enough, if driven exceedingly gently, change gear at 2000 - 2500RPM, coasting in neutral at traffic lights, only 9km/l, while revving to 3000 or 4000RPM in each gear and staying in gear till nearly still when slowing down and stopping gives me 10-11km/l. Redlining every gear gives only 7-8km/l. 10% highway, 90% rural/mountain roads (lots of slopes, average speed 40-60km/h).

1993 Nissan Cedric Diesel (not turbocharged), owned for 2 years, 30% highway, 30% urban roads (traffic jams), 40% rural roads, average 11-13km/l. Once achieved 15km/l driving more highway than usual and being extremely light-footed and not exceeding 90km/h, something which is extremely difficult for me to do in HK's highways and I have never tried again. It must be noted that this car is on 18-inch wheels which came with the car even though the stock size is 14 inches.

2005 Subaru WRX - near stock condition, borrowed from friend. As an experiment, managed to get 11km/l from driving with almost zero boost and being extremely light-footed, but this took all the fun out of driving it and IMHO its not worth worrying about fuel consumption when driving this kind of car.

To achieve even 12-13km/l, once I pumped and reset the computer, and travelled from Jurong to change airport, smooth pie all the way. I managed to get 12++km/l at best.

Once I hit the traffic lights, the computer drops back to 11+km/l range.

My car is only me on working weekdays.

I am seriously having doubt of this Honda fuel efficiecy engine myth.

Is it possible to ask AD to tune it for fuel economy? Is there such a thing that the AD can set? Or the ECU already prefixed, not possible to 'tune' it.

Last time I hear people say new car AD set it rich to help run in,and after second or third service the AD can retune it back to normal fuel saving mode.

Such things still apply to Jazz or newer cars or not?

I have not heard of AD tuning the ECU after running in or second or third servicing.

But stock ECU is programmed to keep the engine running rich.

You can always do a quick-flash or install an aftermarket ECU or piggyback to tune your car for FC. [:p]

Its easier on certain eways. BKE towards SLE in the morning is always empty so usually 110 plus is normal. I can do 150 on certain stretches for short distances.

150? Not for me in Singapore roads. Too narrow and small. Plus you may incur the wrath of the one who has the blue and red blinkers at the car roof top. [:p]

But in MY and other countries yes.

I ground 5 points. 1 is the engine block.

And yes, its an electrical wire from the point to the -ve terminal on the battery.

Some say no effect but I found an improvement on my earlier Corona n now my Optra so I personally feel it works for me. The engine feels smoother under load too, after grounding.

Yes. I concur.

I did my grounding too. [cool]

Ya many found grounding works, but I dont believe in paying $100 to get a shop to ground. Waste of money. DIY is so cheap. [thumbsup]

That time I did it at my friend's shop. Discounted price. [laugh]

Very cheap.
