obviously losing his marbles

diseases and lifespan are genetic, ability to learn isn't one of them

instead a person's ability to learn depends on early childhood, nothing genetic about that!

There is anecdotal evidence to suggest genes play a part too.

True la, but also need luck and destiny to success. For eg he is lucky that he born in a rich english speaking family that can send him oversea to study. That time who can take a ship and go england study? Only filthy rich family able to do that. If he born in a poor family, non english speaking background with no money for education (very common for ppl that time), i think he is juz a normal sporean now.

Very true! But he is street smart too! Think LHL is not so street smart.

If LKY is born to a poor family and do not have the financial resources to study leave alone studying overseas, he may possibily be a mafix boss

This story may have some bearing if you believe in ancestor worship that this large wealthy family around this region has their children dying one by one thru' accidents and illnesses till they asked for directions to correct this unfortunate happenings and was asked to moved the grandfather grave in a certain direction and then all are well now -_-

Which is also why the rich and powerful are generally very supertitious too! [wave]

just as how there is anecdotal evidence that marijuana is good for you

i don't see people rushing to get high on marijuana!

fact of the day is that even if genes play a part, it is not scientifically proven or at best, an extremely minor part

if genes play such an important role, don't forget our great fore-fathers were all primitive monkeys

Supercharged

although i agree genes does make a sizeable difference, a bigger contribution is one's destiny (determined by date and time of birth).

if genes is the sole contribution, it does not explain why siblings with the same parents have widely differing capabilities.

the contribution of genes is a subset of the contribution of destiny which i do agree is about 70% weight to a person's capability.

the other 30% would be determined by that person's effort and upbringing.
