Local tour group camps out at travel agency over dispute

SINGAPORE: A group of tourists were bound for Shanghai but found themselves at the travel agency.

 

The group of ten tourists said they were expecting an agency staff to meet them at the airport, and provide information about their hotel and trip arrangements. However, no one showed up.

 

One of the tourists, Charlotte Lee, said: "The whole team waited for him for about two hours. And then he miraculously picked up our call at around 10:10. His first response was, 'Why aren't you on the plane?' How can we get on the plane when we don't have any details at all? Like, are we going to be stranded in China? I think that was the biggest concern we had."

 

They said they were told to board the plane at 11am and that trip details would be sent to them via SMS. But they decided not to, and came to the travel agency for answers.

 

Police arrived at the scene shortly after noon and asked the group to move their bags away from the agency's front door.

 

The agency then proposed an afternoon flight to Shanghai, which the group did not take up.

 

Jonathan Tan, Manager of SA Tours, said: "We arranged for a staff to be at the airport to assist. He would not affect the trip at all, actually. Because our staff was not there to help, the group totally lost confidence in the company, and abandoned the tour by their own choice."

 

After a five-hour wait outside the agency, the group left. The group said it is planning further action.

1) how come the flights details not given?

2) if flights details can be given, why not the stickers and the china's agent voucher or name?

3) just have to meet the other side agent, why need local agent to follow?

4) in service line, all phone calls, HP switch off until no one is contactable? No one in Sino agency working on Sunday, I guess.

 

 

I feel sorry for that old man, don't know he speak true of not!! Seems unlikely, but give him benefit of doubt.

The old man said he worked for 65 years....first time retire and go first holiday...and he met with this no-show incident.

I think he better buy lottery...tonight he might just win the 1.5million for being so lucky!!

why no local staff to follow? i thought they should have one, maybe the group is too small.

 

i have good experience with SA for the only tour group trip i had and it was one of the best holiday i ever had, it could be luck

 

The issue here is they want a local SA staff here to coordinate and follow them (or are they on free & easy?)

On the contrary , I had a bad exp with them for the 1 month student Europe tour where they did not inform us that they were going to cancel the trip until one of my fellow u mates found out. They finally formally informed us < 2 weeks before departure date but luckily , the whole grp went over to the now defunct ken air to book for the trip .

 

That's why I still prefer Chan Brothers.......

i just went for a chan brother holiday in June

 

was contacting the office la, front desk la, phone la , email la

for all the details for my trip, (as some are finalied really late)

(cos i need the hotel name in each city, as i am meeting a friend there... thus he needs to know where to meet me)

 

and the brother's reply were always professional.
