Number of problems faced in first year of driving your car?

Since Korean and Continental cars are getting popular in our country, just wanted to check on the "reliability" issue. Since only 3 polls can be added, I could not separate MIJ and MIT. I wanted to just see the problems in the first year as any problems in the subsequent years may be due to the driving habits as well.

 

When you count your problems, please leave those oil change, filter change issues. For example, changing ECU under warranty is a problem. You are free to take poll as long as you have driven a new car in those categories. If you have driven more than one car in a particular category, please poll with the latest one!

3 years with my Honda, only once when the battery died after 1.5 years. Other than that zero problems.

set aside recall issue, the car seldom have problem, normally is the drivers habit that damage the car.....

3years with my Honda. No problems with the car at all. MIJ really makes a difference from my previos MIT Toyota.

For the conti car my dad bought one few years back. Had to go back for repairs very often. But luckily all covered by warranty. Mainly the radiator fan and aircon problems.

MIT toyota '08.... no problem face in first yr, 2nd yr changed rear suspension due to leak(under warranty)

 

MIJ GLXi '08.... no problem faced till now(touch wood)

 

MIE(UK) LR '10... faced radiating fan knocking sound in 1st yr

I was thinking that it may not be fair to compare on a car-to-car basis to assess reliability. Should take into account the number of technologies employed in each car too. Logically, the more technologies that you have, the chances that you have to go back for a repair/replacement will be higher as you just need one of these technologies to malfunction to warrant a trip to the workshop. Generally, I think the continental cars have more technological gizmos stuffed into their shells than Japanese or Korean; and that could be the reason why their owners often land up having to make more trips to the workshop.

Honda Jazz, no problem. Regular servicing will be fine. And change worn off parts.

I guess I've been lucky. For me regardless of new or used this is my tally for problems in the first year:

Renault: 0 (new)

Ford: 0 (used)

Opel: 0 (new)

Nissan: 0 (used)

Toyota: 0 (used)

Fiat: 0 (new)

Mazda: 0 (new)

 

In fact, the only problem I've had was with the transmission solenoid in the 2nd year for the Opel (which was replaced with no fuss and very quickly). This I attribute to being an early adopter. This was their first gen of their MTA transmission. Other than that its just wear and tear stuff that I would need to replace on all cars. One thing to note is that the Fiat Grande Punto has a penchant for going through batteries like water though, and when the battery is about to go kaput, the transmission acts up on cold starts.

Near 8 years Japan Camry,not much problem,only A/C compressor & Coil[due to tear &wear]....Nissan 370z,2 years,no problem.

In the first year,

 

73% Japanese cars were without any problem, while 27% of cars had at least one problem

17.4% Conti / American cars were without any problem, while 82.6 % of cars had at least one problem

52.9% Korean cars were without any problem, while 47.1 % of cars had at least one problem

 

When we get more votes, we can get to know more!

Ard 4 years plus...

 

Other than battery went dead...nothing else....

 

Even brake pad also havent change yet

 

Close to 70k....Only done wif servicings...
