If the owner is a friend and if you trust him .... my comments as follows :

1. 89k mileage for 6.5 yrs car is low (Provided that the mileage has not been adjusted)

2. Depreciation - 22.5k - 5 k = 17.5/3.5 = 5000 per year

I am not sure what other cars that you can get for 5 k depreciation nowadays.... but do check around.

MIK has improved over the years ......

Hungryforcar : oh ok. yet to check out the insurance for P plate. but my dad would be helping me a little bit with the insurance issues. cos i understand for P plate..premium is kind of high.

Civic 6228 : actually im ok with the depreciation value ... its the mileage that im abit worried of only. cos dun intend to sell it anymore in future ( doubt anyone would want to buy either) so was hoping for low mileage at least the reliability is better for most cases..

TS, top up another 10k get a Tuscani.

1) You get a car which is million times more beautiful.

2) You get a 2 liter, 4 cylinder 16 valves engine instead of a 1.5 liter 3 cylinder 12 valves engine.

3) You get steptronic gearbox.

4) You get higher OMV.

5) Most important factor of all, you can pick up more chicks with a Tuscani [gorgeous].

If I were you, I would only pay $18K max.

If market price ard there...tink he shud be able to bargain dwn to 20k...

With current Coe pricing...18k abit difficult but no harm trying for fren2 discount:)

Mik may have improved in recent years.

But this car was made in 2005 using older thoughts and design philosophy.

Don't worry .. I had driven this car before for 3 yrs and it is a great work horse simple and plain. Got good FC too .. Mine was a 2001 1.3M accent which I brought it when it was 3 years old and drove it till it was 6 years old before I trade in for a brand new KIA RIO.

Maintenance is cheap and it runs on RON 92 petrol which I usually get around 16 - 17km/l.

Not exactly the best deal, but looking at the mileage and price, not a bad deal afterall for a p-plate starter. Worth considering.

I thk this car is worth considering. just need to check whether the timing belt, water pump, fuel filter had been replaced as part of 80K major servicing

Virgin buyer! Will be painful the first time [laugh]

There will be different views from the forum, but one experience I can share is to get a second hand car to refine your skills. There will be scratches and knocks along the way and when you're more "zhai" then can consider getting a new one.

TS, judging on the used cars in sgcarmart price range around 20 to 25k, you can get better cars. got impreza, lancer, vios, sunny etc. in my opinion, those are safer bets. Just make sure they are accident free and condition of interior and exterioe good can already.
