I've gone through 4 Saabs and now drives a Camry to pot around the city quickly without fuss. The wife is still driving our 4th Saab and she was in a bad accident 3 years ago and we believe the car saved her life. Saab is not a mass appeal car. Most people do not understand the features and will pass it for the more popular brands but the folks that drives it will find it hard to replace bang for buck which is why they will come back to the brand after a while. In HK and other places like Australia, u will find more Saabs on the road. Suggest u go to their user groups websites to find out why they love the car. In SG the local website is www.saabstance.com.

Hey thanks for the advice...I know there are some Saab enthusiasts in Singapore whom swear by the brand...I will check it out..

i had the oppty to ride in a test drive in a saab 9-5 10 years ago. it was amazing. the ergonomics, the power, the aviation history.

i like rare and quirky cars. so, thumbs up from me for this one. [thumbsup]

yeah I read from an article that there is only 4 units of this make available for sale in Singapore...its that rare.. worldwide there is only 2000 units available. however the dealer corrected me today and say there is 6 units of this in the sedan version and only 2 units in the station wagon version in Singapore.. [laugh]

Personally, I do not like GM cars ... they seem to share many things from the same parts bin.Be it SAAB, Opel, or even their Korean-made cars like Chevrolet.

Am hoping that with the Dutch Spyker takeover, the SAAB brand could be reinstated back to its heydays, sans the GM influence.

Remember the 900S or the 900 Turbo? [kiss]

Very quaint and Bohemian ... even till today, if you are lucky to see one on the road.

actually it is very common nowadays with regard to the above...for e.g the VW group. VW and Skoda also share many things from the same parts...

I also think Saab maybe better off under Spyker...GM just CMI..

By the way the dealer told me that stage 2 turbo can be achieved by just putting in place a few items (he named it but I din catch it clearly). I still do not quite get what he meant by stage 2 turbo..

Most likely the saab is using a light pressure turbo and a stage 2 would meant changing the turbo, injectors, fuel pump n reflash the ecu to up the powerband. Quite a nice car, although i would prefer this engine in the cabriolet version.

Maybe you want read a little from here. Think stage 2 is exhaust air flow in additional to stage 1. Note that may not be LTA compliant though.

Btw I think it is a good car to have.

haha I not so hiong..think I would keep it as it is without the additional modifications if I do indeed buy it..

I also felt it should be a good car to have...just feeling a bit of a dilemma over couple of things... -_-

would be a sweet car to drive up north...with its XWD n power, u can just floor the accelerator and wait for it to hit 245km/h

Hee I bought the car...bargained a few thousands off.. [laugh]

congrats!! you got a good car at a good price. only caution is maintenance cost which cld be high.

I've never owned a SAAB, but when I test drove the SAAB 9-3, I like the strong low to mid end pull and the comfort. hard to find a car with such good balance.
