Kelpie 2nd Gear July 4, 2011 Share July 4, 2011 Hi all, I find the fixed/land line at home irrelevant these days apart from broadband usage. When the phone rang at home, no one even bother to pick up the phone . Regards, ↡ Advertisement
Shull Turbocharged July 4, 2011 Share July 4, 2011 My home still uses the fixed line for outgoing calls frequently, cos it's still hell lot cheaper in terms of cents/min as compared to handphones.

Donut Supercharged July 5, 2011 Share July 5, 2011 Guys, don't underestimate traditional land lines Technology will fail u at the moment u needed it most. Happened to me v recently. I was sleeping at night when I was woken up by this guy who was standing in front of my main door. I thought he was a Loanshark throwig paint at neighbor doors. From my window, I can see him but he can't see me. He look like a mad fella, mumbling to himself and looking quite dazed. I panicked awhile coz he kept standing there. I took my Hp and dialed 999. And it failed me. Hp just hanged like that. No dialing tone no sound at all. I tried 6 times. No tone. Nothing. U see this kind of urgent situations where it fails u. Imagine it's a fire or someone trying to kill u? U be dead!! Lucky I got my land line at home. Never fails me.

Kangadrool Supersonic July 5, 2011 Share July 5, 2011 Land line still useful in emergency or when the mobile network is poor or congested (if you live near dormitories or areas where FWs congregrate during off peak hours).

Hiphiphoray 6th Gear July 5, 2011 Share July 5, 2011 Fixed home line is practically useless. Monthly usage probably $1-$2 nia. Duno pay the sub fee for what. Those starhub free home line also crap. Must switch on modem and use electricity 24/7. Might as well depend on mobile phone totally. My 8 yr old girl got HP under student rate.........cheap like dirt.
