Mecontle 1st Gear July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 Last night & today, almost rear collided by motorbikes who tried to overtaking, first was a bike with exhaust mod racing along a bend on lane1 at high speed, today was another bike cant wait for cars to exit road on left, die die want to overtake. Come to worse only the bikers will suffer bodily harm not the car owners, money cannot buy back their lives. So do u think anything will change if more stringent demerit penalty is imposed on motorcyclist? ↡ Advertisement
Vega Turbocharged July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 Don't think its necessary cos they kena one time, they may not have the chance to enjoy this stiffer penalty.

Lucaswh 1st Gear July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 Well..to be fair some bikers sometimes do ask for it with their style of riding. Road hogging in the middle lane/right lane of expressway refusing to give way while fiercely clutching on to their handlebar..Worse still with pillion. A certain group sometimes ride side by side and chit chat while riding in middle lane of expressway, quite bo chup the faster cars.
Subutai 3rd Gear July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 Agree to certain extend. Is an ex-biker... is noticing more bikers, especially smaller CCs ones modifying their exhausts to be a nuisance. This applys to ricer cars as well. I live at Geylang Serai on the higher floors, not facing the main roads. Some of these jokers think it is fun and cool to announce their presence during late nights outs in this area with 24hrs supper eatery. These KNNBCCB idiots also like to race from 1 traffic light to another on the straights 4 lines here. My poor baby always kanna woken up late nights or during day naps. Can hear them before you see them. Normally high pitched however also have low pitched high bass ones from skippers and scramblers. Modified cars and ricer cars can be spotted almost every night. Nosie from class 2 bikes and high end cars are mostly by default so LL. Is complaining to LTA on this issue, but seems like no actions. Will go to MP this week. IF i don't see road blocks to catch these loud exhaust, is writing to papers.
Lucaswh 1st Gear July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 Yup some bikes are modified such that their exhaust is so damn loud..and it's definitely not aural pleasure (like on a maser), but like a mosquito. At least some modified cars with full flow exhaust sound loud and bassy, but still not as loud as some of these bikes... and i notice it's usually the smaller ones giving off such sounds. These 2 stroker bikes are the culprits. Loud, nevermind. But it gets to the point of irritating.

Same problem at my house (Yishun), in the middle of the night, a group of young bikers always like to announce their presence during late with their noisy exhaust.. I ever f--k this group of b------d and they simply reply me with their exhaust... sometimes i wonder those bikes set on fire were caused by such reasons... But the difference in motor bike riding styles between Singapore and UK is beyond belief. I'd be very happy to see bikers prosecuted for their dangerous driving styles of speeding along the white lines. Even though I keep an eye in the mirror maybe 50% of the time bikers travel so fast along the white lines that often they are in my blind spot and it's only the noise they make that I realize they are there. Sighz the difference between a driver ONLY and one that rides AND drives. The one that holds a class 3 license only tends to think all other class of vehicles are WRONG or INCOMPETENT except himself. I don't have any problems with lane-splitting bikers when i drive. Maybe its because your neck is too stiff to check your mirrors AND blindspot. Main problems from drivers are the roadhoggers who thinks that their cars are very fast and sticks to the 1st lane.
Mecontle 1st Gear July 3, 2011 Author Share July 3, 2011 do u swim in a shark infested sea & blame sharks for attack or do u swim in lower profile sea meaning last lane?
Darthrevan Supercharged July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 i believe motorbikes and cars and bicycles can share the road peacefully..things happen only when one of the parties is inconsiderate and not civic minded..these are my pet peeve with bikers -modded noisy exhaust -2 stroke noisy bikes -those revving loudly near residential areas at night -lane splitting bringing danger to themselves(and the pillion passenger) -riding at other cars blind spot but even with the stiffest penalties are useless if there is a lack of enforcement
SimonTan 2nd Gear July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 This is a sharing world. There r all sorts of people and drivers. No point to complain. Just have to teach these motorcyclist a lesson.
Arwen Clutched July 3, 2011 Share July 3, 2011 The thing is, drivers and riders alike, are supposed to check their blind spots before making any lane changes... If everyone bothers to turn turn their necks for a moment to check, won't it be much better?

I'm sorry, but isn't the right lane meant for overtaking. But WAIT! Your piece of 4 wheeler is blocking me from using the entire lane to do it according to traffic regulations, so next best option is to go in between. So if you think you have a problem with that than by all means go ahead and block the poor bikers. Show me a road sign that says "BIKERS KEEP LEFT ONLY" on any expressway and i'll give you my bike. You can sell it (its worth $17K) and get yourself a whole new set of boxers or underwears because obviously everytime you see a bike on the road zooming by you sh!t yourself silly. ↡ Advertisement
