KARTer 2nd Gear July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 But I always make it a point to wear 1 tie in office when I am meeting suppliers (even that they are my contacts and had been friends for years). i keep a tie, pair of shinny presentable shoes, a jacket... all hang behind the door... but sometimew by the time i resigned, they were still unused just curious, i can understand a tie for meeting clients or bosses, but why suppliers?? ... Jap suppliers? ↡ Advertisement

LoverofCar 6th Gear July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 (edited) My first day of work I wore a tie.... Being the clown of the company as no one else pulls up one. after you get the job...it is wise to ask for the dress code in the office....after first day, i guess you can observe and act accordingly liao Edited July 1, 2011 by LoverofCar
Tigershark1976 Turbocharged July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 tie is one of the very few accessaories man can wear.... it shows how serious/ respect from you to your interviewer. just like a female going for imterview must make up (simple, not those mamasan makeup)... Ben5266 Supercharged July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 priest lah in the medical line. the tie is actually the biggest spreader of germs, bacteria. Thus, Drs wear bow tie and there are increasing no of ppl not wearing tie bcos of this.....so the best compromise is mandarin collar lo No. Excuses. Should be their index finger. ....digging their nose ... or even bs and then ask patient to say AHH...... [laugh]
13177 Hypersonic July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 Depends on the company culture, the position you are applying for and the industry. There was once when i wear a tie to the interview, the interviewer told me no need as he thinks a bit "overdress", just decent shirt and pants. KARTer 2nd Gear July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 To suppliers that I am smarter than them and dont try to screw me up. And actually, I am giving them the impression that I will screw them up . ya, there are suppliers who think others were born yesterday..... this type no need to wasted time, or just squeeze them hard, or call their boss to send someone else... Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear July 1, 2011 Share July 1, 2011 i've had clowns who came for an interview for senior positions wearing jeans. needless to say, it was a very, very short interview...... In the building construction industry, a certain senior appointment often mistaken for junior one by the respective Employers. So most of the time they got the wrong men for the job or complained no suitable applicants, or no applicant.

The titile "Manager" can mean a job which commands a salary around 5kpm in some companies, but in some MNCs, the salary starts at 10k.... so some candidates get it wrong and show up in different attires... VPs a dame a dozen in many local campanies/banks, but some companies use the same title for very senior positions as their 'Managers' already draw 15kpm
Maldini03 1st Gear July 2, 2011 Share July 2, 2011 Agree. Can be quite subjective to the occassion/participants. Example: years back, my Head of Department arrived in coat and tie to attend a sponsor's ceremony. His superior and the Sponsor arrived later dressed smart casual. My Head of Department immediately took off his coat in order to blend with them. This is a classic case. Imagine the HOD came in smart casual and his superior came in tie and coat?? ↡ Advertisement
