Use local calling card, or at least call back service to save on local telco charges and middle agent charges. Best is to just use VoIP, if available.

If urgent and charged as business expense to customer or company then what the heck, just call :D

sure but really exp...tat 3 days there, my phonebill few hundreds...

Hello.. before PacNet ADSL there was no PacNet ADSL :D He would have to wait for cable to be available in your estate, or live with dial-up. Your PacNet ADSL also go through StinkTel phone line.

I also don't know what to say. Ask your dad, last time there wasn't so many choices. "Starhub" was also just starting to expand beyond just Cable TV. It was known as "Singapore Cable Vision" and "SCV Online". Starhub is 21st century lah.

Yeah, between 1997 to 2001, it would most possibly be Pacific Internet Dial-up or at most ADSL over Singtel's phone line. In fact, the first Singtel Magix was ATM-based, there wasn't even island-wide ADSL until around 1999 or 2000 when all the Telecom exchange are upgraded. I was on Pacific Internet 56k Dial-Up from 1995 till around 1997, switched to Singtel Magix ADSL then to Starhub around 1999 or 2000, after they lay the cables in my estate. Was on Telecom pager (analog), then Singtel AMPS mobile (analog) then PCN phone (1800MHz digital) until I switched to M1 GSM around 1998, till now. Got my then-GF a Starhub CDMA phone when Starhub first launched, think around 1999 or 2000.

Once upon a time, there was one and only Singtel a.k.a. TAS a.k.a Singapore Telecom.
