Ahbwee Neutral Newbie June 28, 2011 Share June 28, 2011 (edited) once our kids reach independent age (secondary probably), My wife and I decided NOT to engage domestic helpers anymore. no doubt they have been a great help. and we DO appreciate them. we told them we TREAT them like family. our kids love them like they love us, i.e parents. unfortunately, the temptation outside of home is simply too much. i personally spend time to counsel them, sit down with them and ask them WHY do they even do such things. $ is always the reason. family to feed, parents asking $ back home very often. i pay my domestic helpers MORE than the stipulated salary. 1 getting $500, the other who is on a 2nd contract with me gets $600. still, $ is never enough. so, what gives? 3 more off days per week so they could prostitute or rendezvous with banglas for a meagre $10 hp top up? sigh... +++++++++++++++++++++ yewheng, i'm not here to boast HOW good We are to our helpers. I just hope the government would really consider looking at the flipside of the coin. You want us singaporeans to have more kids, and now you're thinking of giving maids 4 off days a month? so for those who does not have parental help, how? who dares to even have kids?or say ...more than 1 kid? no F**CKING singaporean would. period. Tonyng 4th Gear June 28, 2011 Share June 28, 2011 Arrse holes like these (the one you are replying to) ought to be treated by their employers in the same way. Better still if this arrse hole's children get it from their employers in future. I must have seriously offended you. Based on my few prejudices, you are either PRC, MIW or AhBWee's maid. I am ONLY sorry if you are the maid.
Tigerwoods Turbocharged June 28, 2011 Share June 28, 2011 yewheng, i'm not here to boast HOW good We are to our helpers. I have a wife, 3 kids and a late 40s Filipino maid. As I have posted earlier, I give her 4 Sundays off. I have no problems whatsoever. Frankly the issue our GOV has is NOT internal. Its external. read the reports from HKG and TWN ? Many of them are flocking there to work and giving SG a miss. SG employers are really Count the Dead Grass type, control freaks. My S-I-L change maids that my fingers and toes not enough to count. The reasons - blows my mind... and many SGeans are like that. - They want the maids to be Hardorking Mother Teresa. I have been hiring maids since 1990s and only 1 rejected due to helath reasons and 1 gone home to get married. My wife and me always choose older maids (to make it crude, I will throw in ugly as well). But we choose very decent ones as well. There your moonlighting woes - GONE. However, I only have 1 advice - treat them like family member. No I don't mean buying Computers and all the stuff... Give a maid a Handphone and she will Talk Non-stop. Give a maid Dignity and she will work Non-Stop.
