Throttle2 Supersonic June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 (edited) Last time got a lot of jokers shoplifting. Because the place is so big and there are so many cash counters, very easy for someone to buy some cheap thing, then open the bag again to shoplift something else. Hence the ties. I'll teach you a quick way to remove them (in case you haven't figured it out yet). Twist (pleat) the ends of the carrying loops tightly together a few times, then slip the cable tie off easily. If you can't locate scissors to cut them off, this is the way to go rather than tearing and wasting the bag. yup that why i said it doesnt work. wonder which super idiot thought of it in the first place. Ladykillerz 4th Gear June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 (edited) this method is world class stupidity! i can easily show you how to open the plastic cable tie, put things inside and put back the cable tie again. they thought SG is in IN... =x Edited June 20, 2011 by Ladykillerz
Throttle2 Supersonic June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 someone said it works against them? ya maybe. we can reuse mustafa plastic bag, put some items and then use our own cable tie and tie....the staff will assume those items inside are paid. no need check LOL yes exactly. in fact you dont even hv to use your own cable tie, just slide up and down using the provided one. ridiculous. super idiot who thought of it was probably rewarded by equally super idiots who agreed to implement it. LoverofCar 6th Gear June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 They should just treat shoplifting as a mean to return to the society...they make tons of money here in Singapore after migrate to Singapore...but then..shoplift might not be Singaporean...very likely is one of their kind... Kelpie 2nd Gear June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 for security purpose, if you want to enter Mustafa with your own plastic bag, they will fasten it at the door also. After you pay, they will fasten the plastic bag so you cannot put anything else into the bag without paying before you leave. I thought this is either the Indian culture or business conduct for their retail sector. Regards,

Acieed 1st Gear June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 I thought Mustafa is SG owner ? Originally operated around Arab Street area selling textile/clothing in 60/70s. They should just treat shoplifting as a mean to return to the society...they make tons of money here in Singapore after migrate to Singapore...but then..shoplift might not be Singaporean...very likely is one of their kind... Trebuchet Neutral Newbie June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 The cable ties are meant as deterrents, not solutions, to shoplifting. Have you ever heard of 'virtue ethics'? There is a practice in certain American offices to leave donuts in the pantry freely available. People are told via a sign that the donuts are free to take, but please leave a donation in the donut tin, the amount to be decided by what you think the donut is worth. So, would our super smart forummers here bother leaving anything in the tin? It should also be noted that most of the patrons are not likely to be wealthy or drivers of fast cars. For this crowd, why go to Mustafa. It is a low-class tactic for you high class people.
Mllcg 3rd Gear June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 what about hand bags and sling bags?
Trebuchet Neutral Newbie June 20, 2011 Share June 20, 2011 (edited) what about hand bags and sling bags? I said it is meant to be a deterrent, not an 'effective deterrent'. I reckon cable-tieing hand bags and sling bags would not go against the whole 'virtue ethics' idea in which shoppers are expected, or at least hoped, to be honest. Mustafa does not sweat it if they aren't. And, there we have it. No donuts for you. Edited June 20, 2011 by Trebuchet
