THE family of the Thai teenager who lost both legs following a horrific accident at the Ang Mo Kio MRT station in April is suing SMRT for $3.4 million.

The writ filed in the High Court here was served yesterday on the transport operator, which confirmed that it had received it.

This girl already has her hospitalisation fees covered and some mystery donor has given her large sums of $$ as well..it is clear the family is after a bigger fish..

so what kind of artificial limbs this girl's father wants? I dont think even that paraplegic olympic sprinter's artificial limbs are worth so much. I hope the courts throw this case out. Symptoms of money grabbing FTs. [whip]

This is nonsense.... I fail to see how smrt is at fault for freak accident like this. My whole family has their legs intact since mrt started in singapore. We can testify there is no design fault.

Feel cheated she took our 400K for lawyer's fees.

I really hope SMRT does not settle privately. Fight it out and win it in courts.

Show FTs we are not a bunch of suckers for compensation. Know that Singaporeans would be behind them on this one.

I kee chiu for 1 cent fare increase to fight this greedy Thai family.

sg govt let ft come in. we vote the govt in.

why are we sgreans so fond of using our d**k to hit our heads?

this is only the iceberg.

if things spiral out of control, we will be seeing a political group started by ft to be voted into the govt.

1st of all, the girl and her family did not ask for any donations.

2nd of all, their lawyers are probably the ones who did the sums. Those blood suckers are after the $400k...

Lastly, I do believe she should be compensated. Probably not to the tune of $3.4m. Perhaps $500k seems more appropriate. Even buy insurance might not get such a big payout.

If this can go through, a lot of railway around the world will go bankrupt. While I understand the flaw (& even wrote in the forum to condemn their slowness to build barriers) of the current MRT stations, it is not unique to Sunny Singapore.

If she was pushed down due to bad crowd control or slippery floor, I think its fair she got the compensation, but while I pity her, she must take part of the responsibility for the accident, IMO.

you are so nice but I don't think it's in baht! for her age should be S$3.4 mil.

If she wins which chance is very very slim, it will still be pay out by insurance.
